A long fought battle between GOP front-runner Donald Trump and the RNC establishment might be coming to a close after the staggering victory Trump had in New York.
reuters.com reports: The New York real estate mogul's win Tuesday in his home state over rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich was an important milestone for RNC members, who said it could put him on a pathway to acquire the 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination outright without a contested convention.
"There are a fair number of RNC members who were discounting his chances of success when we met in January and now see that hes building a substantial lead and may in fact get to 1,237 before we get to the convention," said Steve Duprey, an RNC member from New Hampshire.
"The New York results were such an overwhelming win," Duprey said. "It's impressive. That's what I've heard people talking about."
RNC members said Trump could help improve the climate by taking steps to end the bad blood that has developed between him and the committee's leadership, including RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

That night during that Chicago mess I was watching CNN (because I gave up Fox) and they had Neil Bush on first. About a half an hour later there was Cruz giving a news conference . I was undecided between Trump and Cruz until that night. That was my turning point too.
And that Cruz's allure is beginning to take on a certain, er, putrefication?
If true then trump is now the establishment candidate. Well that’s what you said about Cruz when they supported him
Trump has this thing about loyalty and fairness that he and his children have mentioned occasionally. I believe that if Trump perceives that the RNC has not been fair, then he will not forget, nor forgive. I don’t think trump is vindictive, but I think Trump has written off the likes of Priebus and the rest. Trump will not accommodate any of them in any capacity, ever.
Bill Bennett was just on FOX and said that the feeling that whoever gets to the convention with a clear lead should win the nomination is spreading.
Cruz wasn't winning when they supported him.
Red State Watcher. I know there is another blog Red State, but they’re anti-trump. How long have they existed?
My what big teeth you have grandma.
Kasich wants VP
I’ve been getting calls for about a month about Joe Heck and Catherine Cortez Masto running here in Nevada. I’ve been telling the callers I don’t know anything about them yet but I’m not voting for anyone who will not support Trump.
I got a call last night and one of are you more likely/less likely to vote for Joe Heck was he will support Trump if he is the nominee. Never said that before. ;)
GO TRUMP!!
This election is 180 degrees from last election. We kept voting any body but Romney. GOPe took out all our candidates til 30% Romney was the nominee. Now WE THE PEOPLE have taken down all their candidates. WE WIN.
“...RNC members said Trump could help improve the climate by taking steps to end the bad blood that has developed between him and the committee’s leadership, including RNC Chairman Reince Priebus...”
Try it the other way around...RNC needs to take the steps...
They only supported Cruz to use him as a vote splitter to try and stop Trump. They never really supported him, but were only using him. If they move to Trump, it will be an admission that they cannot stop him, or an attempt to stop him with be too costly. Purely self-preservation.
Trump signed "the pledge" and has given no indication of reneging. The only hints of reneging have come from the GOP-e. So FURNC!
When the RNC backed Cruz they were trying to derail the Trump Train, not get on it.
The sad truth is... they didn’t care if a bunch of hicks in the South liked Trump. But now that he won New York in a landslide.. well... that’s different!
sad but true.
These are the kinds of things that turned me from Cruz, after supporting him in the beginning. His actions began to give me the gut-feeling that he’s an insincere opportunist; and that became a conviction.

The RNC needs Trump more than Trump needs them...Look how well he has done to this point without them...
I hear ya. Same thing, here. What with the Trashing big money banks and PACs (while being in bed with them) and hiring on a Bush legacy, that final straw was the defense of radical leftists shredding free speech and blaming Trump for their Alinskyite tactics. It showed me his dark and sociopath side.
