Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Wednesday will announce plans to both keep Alexander Hamilton on the front of the $10 bill and to knock Andrew Jackson off the front of the $20 in favor of Harriet Tubman, sources tell POLITICO. Lew is expected to roll out a set of changes that also include putting leaders of the womens suffrage movement on the back of the $10 bill, and incorporating civil rights era leaders and other important moments in American history into the $5 bill. Also, Jackson isnt getting completely booted off the $20 bill. Hes likely to remain on the back. Story Continued Below
Lew's reversal comes after he announced last summer that he was considering replacing Hamilton on the $10 bill with a woman. The plan drew swift rebukes from fans of Hamilton, who helped create the Treasury Department and the modern American financial system. Critics immediately suggested Lew take Jackson off the $20 bill given the former president's role in moving Native Americans off their land.

The Gubmint don’t want you havin REAL hard currency.
“Clara Barton or Sacajawea would have been better choices.”
I’d rather the Statue of Liberty be there.
Reagan was a great man, but he was no Washington.
Men like Washington come along 1 in 1000 years.
Or Aunt Jemima’s?
Good grief I could care less about this issue and don’t understand why anyone does.
All true, but irrelevant. This is about stirring shiite up.
Been saving $20’s ever since they said they wanted to do away with $50 and $100 dollar bills. Guess this is the new way to track cash. Look for them to have a mandatory exchange program of old bills for new. Then expect a visit from a government agent if you exchange more than what they deem a reasonable amount. Every day it seems like the government is doing something new to exert total control. America was founded on freedom from government yet today’s youth seem more than happy to trade freedom and the opportunity to succeed for some free stuff. Might as well set the clock back 250 years.
You might call it that. I wouldn’t expect our Republican “representatives” to do something like this though.
I agree with you. It’s not like we do not have more pressing issues. Lew obviously has too much time on his hands. Do not understand all the hubbub over the issue anyway. I only care about the numbers, not who is on it. Don’t get to keep it long enough anyway for it to matter. Leave it alone.
Is it true that the new bills come out in 2030, 14 years from now? That’s what I heard. Such a long wait for the new bills.
Just wait until we go to a cashless economy.
I heard some country in Europe, don’t remember which, was phasing out paper money and coins. Your cash will be in the bank, and can only be accessed by electronic withdrawals to other accounts.
Among other things, there will be a record of everything you do with money.
I haven’t heard that it would happen here. But I would not be surprised if they do away with paper money and coins eventually. With almost all retailers accepting debit and credit cards, there’s little need to spend actual currency or coins.
Then this will evolve into a situation in which it would be suspect if you want to spend cash you have.
The result of BLM.
STILL PLAYIN THE RACE CARD.......
cry me a river
will never end
Just a case of BLM.
FYI if you can care less than that means you care.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but it may have to do with the fact they have more pressing issues than changing who is on the money. They find the effort and time to do this, but not reform the tax code or reduce regulations for jobs etc.
I’m 100% Certain they have issues you care about that others would shrug at.
A gun carrying Republican at that!
Jefferson is still on the $2 bill........................
There’s nothing wrong with putting Harriet Tubman on the 20. Jackson was a Democrat and a big time slave owner and Tubman was a staunch Republican. We have too many politicians names and faces on stuff anyway.
Mark my words, this money will be called either “Obama bills” or “Nigger bills”.
This is very bad timing.
