After much speculation on the possible replacement of Alexander Hamiltons portrait on the $10 bill, it appears the nations first Secretary of the Treasury will stay put on the heavily-circulated note. While the high-profile support voiced by the cast and creator of the popular Broadway musical, Hamilton, could not have hurt the founding fathers case to remain on the 10, it seems current Treasury Secretary Jack Lew counts himself among Hamiltons admirers and was reluctant to replace him from the beginning.
This doesnt mean things will stay as they are. CNN notes that a mural-style depiction of the womens suffrage movement will be added to the back of the 10, in keeping with the Treasurys stated intention of recognizing womens contributions to the civic life of the nation.
Lew commented on the redesign process, telling CNBC, When we started this conversation not quite a year ago, it wasnt clear to me that millions of Americans were going to weigh in with their ideas. He continued, Were not just talking about one bill. Were talking about the $5, the $10, and the $20. Were not just talking about one picture on one bill. Were talking about using the front and the back of the bill to tell an exciting set of stories.
Perhaps the most interesting new revelation concerns the $20 bill. The 20 had been singled out as particularly ripe for redesign due to the complicated legacy of our seventh President, Andrew Jackson, whose advocacy for the Indian Removal Act of 1830 troubles many. This change seemed to be postponed, however, as the 10 dollar bill was in greater need of an update to modernize anti-counterfeiting measures. Now it seems the Treasury will also go ahead with the change to the 20, adhering to the original proposal that a woman be featured on the note.
According to the CNN article, the updated $20 bill is unlikely to be issued until 2030. It also notes that future Treasury secretaries will have the power to adjust the proposed changes. Secretary Lew said the Treasury could make an official announcement regarding the alterations as early as this week.
I love it!
Jackson and James K. Polk are two of our most under-rated Presidents. Without the policies of these men, Mexico would have most of the American SW and the UK would have the Pacific NW. Taking Jackson off the $20 is revisionist crap that would make George Orwell’s Big Brother proud. And I say all of this as someone who has Cherokee ancestors.
I thought that was already a woman Barbara Bush
Good, Jackson was an opponent of the Federal Reserve anyway.
Put Elaenor Roosevelt on the $20 and no one will notice the difference.
John Quincy Adams or Henry Clay?
“Transformation” takes on many guises.
I think they should simply print a new bill, like $25.00 or $40.00 if they are so bound, bent, and determined to put a woman on a bill. I see no need for it, but if they insist, it should be Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, or Dolly Madison.
How about you leave all the currency alone? If we need it changed, we can get someone who isn't part of the sleazy idiot administration to do it.
LOL. The old Dyke, liberal Eleanor would be so loved by today’s left. Hell, she had more masculinity than our current President.
Put Elaenor Roosevelt on the $20

NEVER put that Commie loving bitch on anything!
Good idea.
In stead of PCBS, what's needed is larger bills. A $500 and a $1000 to start. We need more cash. Cash is privacy and freedom.
By far the best proposal I've seen for a Hero Of Diversity to replace Hamilton on the front of the $10:
"A transgendered illegal alien dragging a mattress across the border"
By the time this is over, based on who they choose, I’ll be in favor of a cashless society.
