Almost a decade ago, Donald Trump promised to build the world’s greatest golf course, in Aberdeen, Scotland. The course, Trump International Golf Links, was opened in 2012, no thanks to some windmills and a rebellious farmer, but a Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel report that will air Tuesday night on HBO shows just how much Scotland came to despise Trump over the course of the ordeal.
Basically, Trump, in all his bluster, promised massive job creation and beautiful development and expansive investment and (from the Scottish perspective, at least) fell short on all fronts, making far more enemies than friends along the way.
The Real Sports clip features some brutal quotes from Al Salmond, the former First Minister of Scotland, including this exchange with reporter Bernie Goldberg:

Oh, dreadful. Sub-zero. Donald couldn’t get elected the dog-catcher.
That dog-catcher line is particularly funny since that is in fact one of Donald’s go-to insults.
Salmond also says Trump “didn’t deliver or come anywhere near delivering on the promises he made” and that “Just about the last person I would want to see in the White House is Donald Trump.”
Goldberg sums up Trump’s interaction with the Scots like this:
After a decade of dealing with Trump, Salmond and a lot of other Scots say they made a mistake. That they were seduced by Trump’s promises. That he talked big but didn’t deliver. Not on the jobs he promised or the billions he said he’d invest. And on top of that, he came to be known as a brash, loud-mouthed bully.
Is any of that shocking? Maybe not. But at least now we know with certainty that if Trump’s campaign to be U.S. president falls flat, he will not be able to take refuge in Scotland.
Yup. That worked out well for Europe. Now they're being overrun by the immigrant "fallout" from Peace Prize Barry's total bungle of the Middle East.
I love the Scots and actually have a real good friend living over on the Shetland Islands. That said, they’re a hotspot for socialists in the UK. There are probably more socialists in Scotland than anywhere else in that country.

Trump does very well with Hispanics, but, doesn't matter anyway, since Blacks and Hispanics aren't that big in the population. Trump just needs to raise the white vote by a few percentage points and he gets all that back.

I spend a lot of time in Europe and almost every European I meet is scared to death that Donald Trump will be come president. I suppose they believe the U.S. gravy train will come to an end. Not true, but this is where they are coming from. You would think they would want a strong leader in the U.S. for their safety. I know that Trump or Cruz is that man.
Tell you what. If you do business in the golf industry over there, you better have your “A” game on. There is a ton of competition.
I have been over there 8 times. Wanted to purchase a pub up by Inverness. I backed out because the thing needed massive renovation and the people and agencies I would have had to go through was unbelievable.
A whole lot of Scotland is owned by the special interests. Like the Mull Of Kintyre, owned by one of the Beatles. The Island of Bute, owned by Jackie Stewart. Etc.
Oh you can build there-if they allow you to. You lease the land and they can tell tou how to build. If there is an old 1700s building on it, you might have to renovate it.
I think you’re right about that. The problem is the combo of Scottish feistiness/stubbornness combined with a dogmatic socialist point of view which creates a really toxic personality. It’s the same with Irish commies.
As always there is a lot more to the story and this is pretty one sided.
Well, at least there was a golf course. That’s more than Obama or Cruz or Kasich or Rubio or any of the RINOs would have accomplished.

I’d bet if you went to Scotland and talked to people you’d find that the number of Trump haters is a lot less than these propaganda outlets pretend. The only assurances we get that everyone in Europe hates Trump and loves Obozo are reports from leftwing fruitcakes of the press who have never told the truth about anything.
I put no stock in any of these sorts of stories.
