In a related story, NFL Ticket prices skyrocket
I watched last year’s super bowl and that is the first NFL game I have watched in maybe 30 years.
I used to love it but in those days we had a different kind of player.
The thing that should alarm the NFL is that we’re seeing a lot of players walk away from the game in their 20s when they still have a lot of years left in them.
Heck if I were an NFL player, I’d play for one big contract, save the money, and get out.
A billion dollars to the NFL is like a thousand to most folks.
It’s spread out over like 10 years. By NFL revenue standards it’s negligible. Which is kind of frightening actually.
What should concern the NFL is the fact that kids today are not into the NFL like we were, when they reach their 20s, that’s the target demographic for the NFL, and they simply won’t be there. Just as we’ve seen with baseball.
This is the death knell of the NFL.
In ten years there will be no football, American style.
It will have been bankrupted, by design, as the last vestige of a unique America culture.
It will be replaced by European style soccer teams, which is also known as “football”.
After all, someone has to pay for all those stadiums.
Even soccer is looking at getting rid of heading the ball out of concussion fears.
And having the ghetto-culture permeate the game hasn't helped matters.
They're losing me too. The refs call a penalty on nearly every single play. The game has gotten tedious and boring.
The problem is that the quality of soccer played here in the US will pale in comparison to how it’s played in Europe. We don’t exactly have an FC Barcelona here.
There’s a certain ghetto culture element in the NBA also.
I gave up on the NFL years ago.
I’m happy that very few Black guys know how to ice skate.
Yeah the owners are going to allow contracts that make that possible. Eventually contracts will take early retirement into consideration.
Of course, and NBA attendance has been steadily dropping.
Theres a certain ghetto culture element in the NBA also.
You Think ?
No,
Really?
Due in no small part to the Miami Hurricanes and ESPN.
Of course the big contract is the second contract. Especially with the new CBA that has a ladder for rookie contracts. And most NFL players never get to the second contract. NFL careers are short, the half a dozen guys who’ve quit on their own are a drop in the bucket compared to the number of guys dumped less than 4 years into their career.
