Who would want to serve aboard the U. S. S. Carl Levin? That would be like serving aboard the U. S. S. Caine whose captain was named Queeg and who was confined to his quarters for acting nuts during a hurricane.

America now has, thanks to the thoroughly corrupted BO, dishonorable and morally dysfunctional people in positions of power and authority, This is because we as a society have a large enough portion of our population that are of the same level of dishonor and dysfunction. America needs to embrace and adhere to the values of our founding fathers.

Satan is pleased with America today, God is not.

Wait till he gets to the U.S.S. Barney Frank! Some of the most sought after, recent recruits would want to be assigned to her.

This is out-effing-rageous.

Mabus is another disgraceful demonic-rat Harvard graduate who unfortunately hails from Mississippi.

Navy ships are NOT to be named after democrats!

Carl Levin? JMJ!

Roads, bridges, viaducts are named after hacks, not military assets.

Ships can be re-named. I believe they should name warships not after people but warships that fought in the Revolutionary War—the Ranger, or Bonheilm Richard.

The First Caliph is merely following the “green light”
from Ryan and the submissive GOP who gladly clean his
sigmoid diligently daily as they coverup every treason
and every criminal action (when they are not instigating
themselves such as the IRS abuse by McCAin).

They noted that the USS Winston Churchill is another exception. Besides his premiership, Winston served in the army, was Minister of the interior (which made him functional head of all British police forces) and was Lord of the British admiralty- twice. Comparing Sir Winston to Senator Carl Lenin is a damned embarassment.

Carl Levin is an appropriate name for a guided missile destroyer—belonging to Iran or North Korea.

His target was the people of the United States—their life, liberty and property. :-(

The christening of this ship with Levin’s name is despicable in my opinion. So much so it prompted me to wonder if Ray Mabus had ever been in the military at all.

Mabus is two years older than me and he served as an officer in the US Navy from 1970-1972 aboard a surface ship. I am no dummy and only 2 years in the Navy, or Air Force only indicates one or two things.

At that time the draft as implemented was for 2 years active and 4 years reserve. The Navy and Air Force would take certain draftees at that time but their active duty term was 4 years and 2 inactive reserve.

If he got drafted and then got in the Navy somehow, he’d have served 4 years. He served two years as an officer (he’d presumably had a college degree on entering). How is that? Wounded and medically discharged? Convenience of the Navy? Discharged for some other reason? Sure makes me curious how this man could be a Secretary of the Navy.

I could be completely wrong. I’m just going on my own experiences at the time and seeing how people get out early.

The passive-aggressive response would have USN personnel refer to all ships by their hull numbers only. Correct, concise and accurate at all times.

It's just a matter of time before he names one the Nadal Hassan and another the Bowe Bergdahl.

The Bergdahl will probably be a tugboat but he'll call it a battleship.

While abhorrent not to select military figures and heroes for naming, it’s not unprecedented. I spent a good amount of time on the Charles F. Adams, which was named after someone who never served, and basically got his appointment to Secretary of the Navy under Herbert Hoover by being a rich, yatch-racing, donating, decendant member of the John Adams family line.

Hopefully, with a new, proper President and a new Sec. of Defense, that can be changed.
