This cherry picking has been done to dozens of RINOS for decades here at FR Why is a billionaire from New York who became a Republican in June 2015 exempt from this skepticism? That is the thing I cannot understand here. This is 100% about Trump’s promises. We have ZERO political results.

Couple of things. He's called himself a republican since at least the 80's. He's been to Republican conventions. He's voted exclusively Republican according to NY state records.

Secondly he has no political records as you point out. None. Zero. Zip. He has no votes that go against (or for) conservative principles. He has no public policies that he's instituted. He has no political records at all. The RINO's you refer to ALL had verifiable RINO political records or agendas that were implemented.

So we're left with a choice. He's either COMPLETELY lying about what he's campaigning on or he's not. If he is lying then why?? So he can get elected President and prove himself to be a liar? And then have the Trump brand forever be associated with the biggest liar in the world? Every time someone sees a Trump property does he want them to say "You know, Donald Trump completely lied about his agenda...why the heck would I ever stay here?".

He's got a brand to uphold. A brand that needs to stay upscale and trustworthy. Why on God's green earth would he completely lie and ruin his entire brand and risk losing everything that's he's worked his entire life for? And risk losing it from his stockholders and family?

Stop making sense!!

Seriously, that is one of the best rebuttals I’ve seen, to the ‘Trump isn’t going to keep any of his campaign promises’ meme.

What’s going to help Trump’s brand more, going with a conservative position that might be less popular nationwide, or doing whatever is popular in the polls with all voters once he’s in office? Geraldo is actively pushing Trump on Fox because he says he believes he’ll flip-flop to the liberal side on the issues he cares about. If Trump’s brand is all that matters, his presidency will be about doing what the majority of the country wants, not about what he promised GOP primary voters.

Not the worst way to govern, it’s Bill Clinton’s 2nd term style, as opposed to Obama’s. But it’s not as good as someone who will try to push the country to be more conservative even if it’s politically risky.
