What I don't understand is the people who support a guy who can't win more than 4 primary states where the people vote and then think he would win in a general.

The people who support Cruz know he cannot win in the general. Cruz supporters want Shillery to win. A vote in the primary for Cruz means we will get her heinous. It matters not whether the GOPe dumps Cruz for Romney or Jebito, Hillary wins. And Cruz supporters know that and do not care one whit.
I'll nibble.
I support the most Constitutionally-minded Conservative, as I see it, in a generation. I believe a good chunk of national problems we face today is because of non-adherence to the founding documents. Cruz is the only one currently running who not only mentions it, but it is an undercurrent to much of what he says. I listen to Trump, and do not hear coherency to his plans. Trump is more a fix-it man - I do like some things, and that is why I shall vote for him should he get 1237+ (but with bigger govt). But, I see a Cruz admin as one in which a LOT more can get done, and properly Constitution-wise (smaller govt).
As for ability to win, this is the primaries. Whomever wins the nom, will need to run like hell to win the general. I'm not ready to claim this one or that one can't win... as long as that is the case, I'm going for the biggest buck. After all, Kasich "could win" too... that does not sway me to support him. If winning was the be all and end all, we might as well nominate Hilliary. That way, whether she wins on the 'Rat side or the 'Pub side, we all win... and of course, that nonsense gets us no-wheres.
