Democratic strategist Harlan Hill told Neil Cavuto today that up to 40% of Bernie Sanders supporters will cross over to Donald Trump if Bernie is eliminated. That’s a pretty high number. Harlan takes the opportunity to repeat his stance of himself crossing over to vote for Donald Trump as well.

I've been saying this all along. This election isn't between right and left. It's the corrupt political establishment against the totally pissed off American public.

If Trump is successful at making the dividing line in American politics a class warfare battle against those who feel "left out", and everyone else, he will have adopted and be pushing the absolute core of leftist thinking. It will be worse than a surrender -- it will actually be joining the enemy.

I've been saying all along that I'm going to vote for the GOP nominee no matter who it is, but if that is what the election becomes, there is no way in hell I'd vote for Trump.

The Cruz supporters are still stuck in the right/left paradigm. They think that electing a “conservative establishment politician” will bring a different result THIS TIME. We know that is poppycock and will only serve to continue this country’s downhill slide. Same old-same old.

I read that several times and didn’t consider it an answer but so be it.

The stupid GOP had better wise up like yesterday.

Right -- so the GOP should join up with the supporters of a radical socialist, and an acknowledged non-conservative who never talks about shrinking the role of government, or reducing regulation, or individual freedom.

Why not just form a new party and call it "The Peoples' Party"? I mean, that would seem to encapsulate the core values of Trump and Sanders, and has that nice little undercurrent of nanny-state socialism/class resentment going for it.

Well, it would help if K-sick would stop his fools mission and get behind Trump. Both he and Cruze, by their terrible campaigns where their main talking points are not what they would do for the country, but rather that they’re the “stop Trumps” have so poisoned the well that I doubt very much if Trump would trust either one of them to give him honest help should he win the presidency. This negative campaigning needs to stop! with the exception of Christie and Carson, all the rest of them have run as “Anti-Trumps!” Screw that! What they are all REALLY ABOUT is not loosing effective control of the Republican Party and the money and personal power that comes from all of it.

“I never thought that I would see FReepers supporting a foreign citizen for President.”

Not a single candidate for President is a “foreign citizen”.

The rhetoric around here has been ridiculous to the extreme of late...

Not this one.

I gave money to Cruz when he first declared, but I have been very turned off by his dirty tricks. I have also been impressed by how Trump has led both the party and the media to a discussion about immigration and political correctness that would never have occurred but for him. I will gladly vote for Cruz in November, if he is the nominee. I don’t believe that such will occur, but that is absolutely the case.

The greatest objective that everyone on Free Republic should have is to deny any Democrat the presidency in 2016.

Well, I'd agree with Kasich. He's almost a Democrat as it is, so a Trump/Sanders/Kasich alliance would seem to fit.

At least that would make it clear to anyone who cares about things like limited government, self-reliance, and individual freedom that this isn't a ticket worth supporting.

Not true. We don't "feel left out". We know we are being shit upon. We continue to send people to Washington to represent us and they don't. They go to get re-elected and feather their own nests with the fruits of our hard work. Look at who is supporting Trump. Sarah Palin, the US Border Patrol, Phylliss Shlafeley, Sheriff Joe, etc. These are folks who want to clear out the corruption. They aren't looking to government for a handout and neither are we. OUR ENEMY IS THE EVER EXPANDING, LIBERTY STEALING FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. You who oppose us are feeding the enemy. We seek kill it and restore our nation. Make America Great Again isn't just an election year slogan. It's a battle cry!

I fully expect Donald Trump to expand the federal government and steal liberty as much as any Democrat. You guys are so focused on getting someone in there who isn't "establishment" that you ignore the reality that Trump is essentially a Democrat.

The only reason I see to vote for Trump at this point is the Supreme Court. That's it. Otherwise, he's just another in a big line of big-government statists.

Cruz is a conservative play actor. He will never seduce enough Americans to put him in the White House... there will not be a groundswell to make him the first 'natural born' Canadian Cuban, like there was for first black, Obama.

Bernie supporters are just as angry about Hillary getting delegates that don’t represent the will of the people. Bernie won NH but got way less delegates.
