What if Trump really does understand system?
WND ^ | Joseph Farah

Posted on 04/16/2016 2:36:21 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

All the analysts seem to be persuaded that Donald Trump doesn’t understand the Republican Party rules that cost him some delegates in Colorado.

The rules were published last year. They were there for all the candidates to read and understand. Any of them could have done what the Ted Cruz campaign did in wooing those delegates. It wasn’t against the rules. It was part of the rules.

I’ve heard newscasters and pundits say the Trump organization just didn’t get it. Maybe they overlooked the rules. Maybe they didn’t understand them. Maybe they never read them or acted on them.

But what if Donald Trump, the master negotiator, the brilliant media tactician, the unparalleled manipulator of public opinion, DID know all about the rules? What if he didn’t bother going after those delegates because he knew it would benefit him more profoundly if he didn’t – turning what was perceived by his supporters and the general public unfamiliar with the arcane rules of the GOP into a national cause célèbre that would help his campaign steamroll over the competition in upcoming primaries in New York, Maryland, California and elsewhere?

Am I the only one who thinks Donald Trump didn’t earn $9 billion by being stupid?

I’m frankly really surprised that so many bright people, cynical people, suspicious people haven’t considered this possibility.

I have.

We all know Trump uses unusually harsh rhetoric in attacking people. He calls them liars. He calls them cheats. This is not the kind of talk we normally hear in American political campaigns, unless someone doesn’t know the microphone is live.

Trump does it routinely – every day.

*snip*

I have always believed it’s calculated behavior.

Talking about trump saying rotten Ihings by hitting a new low in saying really rotten things. You already lost the argument with that attitude.

Trump has spent his life mastering arcane zoning laws, obscure land restrictions, dense real estate provisions, complicated contracts, and (as he says, his “favorite”) long and detailed financial reports.

Anyone who thinks Trump did not understand the rules in general and the Colorado rule changes made in August is very naive. When Colorado changed the rules Trump knew immediately and planned accordingly.

And his plan has totally out maneuvered Cruz, the GOPe and the media, who all now look like stupid idiots.

Cruz is collapsing and Trump is soaring, as anticipated.

Exactly.
Thanks for relaying Manafort information. Missed it

Caught Rachel Maddow last night regarding Indiana. She said at delegate election last weekend only one Trump delegate was elected. (No others have declared)
Indiana like Michigan delegates vote are determined by the plurality will of the people. Early (state committee chair) says people are excited. Bumper stickers etc in great demand.
A two term AG is running for the empty 9th district and expect IN to join in with the Trump momentum. Especially if SCOTUS rules four days before election to open the DC Madam files.

Nope. Trump is caught up in himself. He isn’t that smart. This fiasco hasn’t been a win for him, it’s hurt him because he’s now perceived as a whiner. A big one at that.

-- Anyone who thinks Trump did not understand the rules in general and the Colorado rule changes made in August is very naive. --

Colorado's change in August (ditch straw poll) wasn't the end of it either.

Colorado GOP wanted a slate of unbound delegates. Or so it said, citing selection of Santorum, and then Santorum not being viable at the convention. The Colorado GOP was told that if it conducted a straw poll, the results would be binding. This conflicted with the intention have ZERO bound delegates. So, the Colorado GOP passed a rule in August, no straw poll - no bound delegates.

The RNC then told Colorado that it MUST bind delegates. So, there was ANOTHER rule change, in September, that shifted Colorado GOP from it's August stance (no straw poll, no bound delegates), to what is, I think, the stance that happened, no straw poll, bound delegates.

Even that stance can be okay. There is a small number of states with no primary, no caucus, no straw poll, and the party chooses delegates.

Then, through an astoundingly sharp bit of electioneering, ALL of the delegates go to Cruz, followed by a triumphant tweet "#NeverTrump".

It demonstrated, for all those with eyes to see, that Cruz is a pawn of the Establishment.

Here on FR, I've seen people expressing triumph that the party "insiders" won over the voters, and contempt towards any Republican who didn't "[put] in the hundreds of hours and money necessary to get to the national delegate level. Lazy and uninformed is a sad way to go through life."

I have news for such. The GOP is NOT the exclusive property of the Party leadership. The party staff are supposed to serve the Republican voters, but they have lost sight of that. It is well past time for a purge of party autocrats who have contempt for their own voters.
