Poor Donald. He has no understanding of the nominating process and lying, cheating Ted Cruz is taking advantage of him.
I’m shocked this is so unfair. Nebraska should change the rules to make Trump the winner! That is the only fair thing to do.
/sarcasm (but you know there will be FReepers here that think that)
How many time is Trump going to drop the ball and blame the system? Sheesh.
Cruz continues to play checkers.
Wow! The GOP in Nebraska lets the people vote!!! SHOCK
So Mr. back East, elitist, billionaire can’t make the time to even consider us toothless yokels in the flyover states and somehow that’s OUR problem?
Saw virtually the same thing in Pierce County, WA.
Virtually NO Trump supporters showed up to get voted on for the State Convention.
Eventually, only people chosen at the State Convention will be allowed to go to the National Convention. If Trump’s organization is so weak that nobody will attend, then the first round may be obligatory (vote for whoever won WA Primary), but the second round will be all Cruz.
Eventually, some Trump supporter somewhere has to do some work.
This is Trump’s, what, sixth run for President?
I don’t think he ever intended for it to go this far, but it took on a life of its own.
There is no way that a man serious about the office, having run so many times previously, would be so unprepared.
Whining about "voters" not being involved is disingenuous, at best. The people willing to invest their time/money to become part of the nomination process to become delegates, work the conventions, etc "are the people", just as much as someone who only gets off the couch long enough to pull a lever when an election cycle comes around.
This has got to be one of the craziest primary cycles in Republican history................
Did people actually get to vote in Nebraska? I’ll assume the answer is yes, so why should I complain if the people were actually allowed to vote?
So go on, strut and preen. Try to provoke flamewars because it gives your life meaning.
But what I’m seeing is desperation.
Will Trump fans ever come to an understanding that there are two different things that happen?
1. Selecting who the actual people are who will be delegates and go to the national convention.
2. Determining who gets any “bound” votes of these delegates in the first ballot.
Trump has only focused on #2. If he does not lock up enough first round ballot votes, he is toast because he put no effort into #1.
And this will entirely be his own fault. It’s not cheating or stealing or bribing. It’s people showing up at these local meetings and trying to get elected to be a delegate.
It takes work. It takes local people. It takes relationships. Trump wants to run from Hannity’s set and his big rallies.
This is one of the many reasons I don’t believe Trump really wants to be President. He’s just trying to throw a monkey wrench in the GOPs 2016 election hopes.
Screw Fat Dracula. Trump has the people behind him.
I read an article this morning about a poll on the social connections of Trump (and Cruz) supporters. Half of Trump’s supporters (and about 24% of Cruz’s) are civically disengaged. They don’t go to church, they don’t participate in any group activities, like PTA, book clubs, sports teams, etc.
It is easy to get this type of supporter to go to a rally or to get them to the voting booth. Those are lone activities. One might argue that going to a rally isn’t a lone activity, but it is actually a bunch of people showing up separately, listening to a speech, then all going their separate ways never to meet again, not an on-going social involvement.
These types of people are very difficult to organize and don’t want to attend caucuses or get involved. And when you’ve got ineffective (or even absent) organizers on top of that, there goes a bunch of the other 50% that would like to get involved but need some instruction.
Totally no fair. Those RNC bastards forgot to tell Donald that a state called “Nebraska” existed.
What am I missing here? The delegates are being selected and most will be Cruz supporters - that is true. But when the voters turn out on May 10th and vote for Trump, these Cruz picked delegates have to VOTE for Trump on the first ballot (Winner take all). Correct?
