Strong headwinds of unpopularity continue to hobble leading Republicans Donald Trump and Ted Cruz with the public at-large, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
By contrast, most Republicans see Trump and Cruz in a favorable light - 56 and 58 percent, respectively - while John Kasich is less popular among fellow partisans (47 percent) despite receiving the best ratings among the broader electorate.
The poll finds Trump suffering little damage from recent controversies over punishments for women who have abortions and the arrest of his campaign manager, though the real-estate mogul’s ratings are still in the doldrums.
Thirty-one percent of Americans have a favorable view of Trump while 67 percent are unfavorable -- nearly identical to an early March Post-ABC poll which found he would be the most disliked major-party nominee since at least 1984. Over half the public (53 percent) continues to see Trump in a “strongly unfavorable” light, ticking down from 56 percent last month.
Cruz fares better with 36 percent favorable and 53 percent unfavorable among the public at-large; his strongly unfavorable mark is 20 percentage-points below Trump’s level (33 percent for Cruz vs. 53 percent for Trump).

That said, it's amazing Trump's unfavorables aren't higher... he's fighting billionaire pacs, elites of both parties, the Democrat party, their suck-ups in the MSM, AND the GOP Establishment...

Where’s the contradiction? The latest polls nationally show that among REPUBLICANS, he gets about 40% of the votes ( plus or minus the margin of error ). That means the other 60% still won;t support him.
And that’s among Republicans only. We haven’t even considered the electorate at large ( Independents and Democrats).
Hillary’s unfavorables are way up there too..but CRICKETS!

These poll # are pure BS!!! Trump has thousands upon thousands of people attending his rallies watching on live stream this IS MSM propaganda which we all have become accustomed to!!! That is because they don’t have any actual arguments for their candidate.

Too many don’t seem to understand the difference between primary voters and general election voters.
Trump is getting close to toxic territory with polls like that. Cruz seems to be working towards that, also.

Unfavorable opinion could mean people think he’s not “PC” enough for modern society.
It doesn’t mean that they don’t think he’s the best man for the job.

Nah. Cruz isn’t improving anywhere. It’s pure spite now on the part of Cruz, or pure arrogance thinking that he can stage a St. Ted miracle and magically produce 700 first round votes.
