Every municipality (and state) has stupid regulations on the books.

One of my previous towns of residence had a law about women wearing red shoes on Saturday afternoon. (ostensibly because: prostitution. Or something)

NO one ever imagined the township would actually WASTE MONEY prosecuting that law.

Not when there were REAL crimes ongoing.

And the argument TX used wasn’t ‘we are a state, it’s our law, we can’. It was ‘because incest’. Which is even dumber than the red shoe law.

Cruz defended conservative legal values in the salacious case involving sex toys. This is further proof of his conservative credentials and legal expertise.

I don't think anyone on this Forum doubts his legal acumen. It's the rest of the package that is troubling. It takes more than SME (subject matter expertise) to be a capable leader of so complex a nation in such a dangerous world. He is a tactician; but he is not strong original thinking.

I do too. It will be a perfect excuse to illustrate the idea of federalism. Texas should be allowed to regulate (or not regulate) dildos. Colorado should be allowed to regulate (or not regulate) marijuana. New York should be able to regulate (or not regulate) soft drinks. California should be able to regulate (or not regulate) automobile emissions. North Carolina should be able to regulate (or not regulate) public restroom use, etc.....

Particularly if the following gets quoted from his case: "Senator Cruz, as part of your legal argument, your office wrote that, 'There is no substantive-due-process right to stimulate one's genitals for non-medical purposes unrelated to procreation or outside of an interpersonal relationship.'" Would you like to elaborate?"

Somehow, I doubt his answer would be an appeal to federalism.

Because Ted’s a passive aggressive putz who lets proxies do the dirty work. No way he was going to try to take that thing away from Heidi himself.

Quite aside from the basic rights of privacy and the pursuit of happiness, what about the rights of elderly or handicapped couples. For example if an older man cannot use Viagra because of a heart condition, he can still pleasure his wife with sex aids. Of course, some fundamentalists would say you should only have sex for procreation, and if you can’t procreate, you shouldn’t have sex. That is the logical extension of Cruzian behavior policing.

Ted was Solicitor-General for the state of Texas. Texas passed a law. The law was challenged. The state directed Ted to defend the law in court. Ted did his job as directed.

Any questions? :-)

Yes, did Ted Cruz ever say he was against the law but had to do his duty to uphold it? Or was he a backer of the law’s stated aim from the get go?

This is horse manure. Cruz was not the attorney of record, nor did he even work on the case

His name is mentioned in the court documents as Solicitor General, but he was not the attorney of record, nor did he have anything to do with the case. Read the real poop here:and wipe the amear out with the brief

You want some dildo too? Heck I will take up a collection so you can go here on vacation. Make sure to take your wife. Be the first fun she had in a while. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dildo,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador

The decline in Judeo-Christian values in the U.S. and other western countries is in direct correlation to declines in the economy, in safety, in education, in human rights, etc. If you’re going to ridicule people of faith, you belong in the Democrat party.

You belong in the sex is dirty camp. Monogamous sex is not dirty. Your mother did you a dis-service. May a nasty whore rub her parts on your face and it be caught on camera.... wait. ;-) It has been.

What part of the Constitution guarantees the right to sell sex toys? The same part that guarantees the right to sell marijuana?

Conservatives don’t run to the courts whenever they meet a law they don’t like. They get the legislature to repeal it.

Much of the president’s job is to sign legislation, veto legislation, make executive orders and enforce the law. Sounds to me like legal expertise is a useful skill to have.
