The rivalry between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in 2008 was so vicious, it left “deep and lasting scars on both the Clinton and Obama camps, and they are still shockingly fresh,” writes Kate Andersen Brower in the new tome, “First Women: The Grace and Power of America’s Modern First Ladies.”
The book, out Tuesday from HarperCollins, reportedly reveals Michelle Obama was even hoping Joe Biden would launch a presidential run so he could beat Hillary this time around.
“When Michelle Obama views the Clintons, I don’t want to say she’s looking down her nose at them — but she kind of is,” a former Obama adviser told Brower. The book adds that Michelle’s relationship with Hillary was “fraught with hurt feelings and resentment.”
The book claims Michelle — who was previously making $275,000 a year for the University of Chicago Medical Center — is eager to leave the White House, which she has called a “really nice prison,” and become a private citizen again to earn big money from speaking fees.
The book says Michelle once even told former French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy of her role, “It’s hell. I can’t stand it!” Michelle unwinds from “prison” stress by watching “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” at night, Brower writes.

This was a "make-work" job for Michelle Obama, i.e., influence buying job for the hospital. When she left the job it was filled by ... no one. They did away with the position.
I would be interested to see who pays her for a do-nothing job or big speaking fees after her hubby no longer is in a position of power. It may not be as long a list as she thinks.
Traditionally, when a president leaves the White House at the end of his term, he and the First Lady retire to a private life, away from the public eye. This will not be the case with the Obamas. Michelle will end up as a co-host on “The View”, and Barack will be a frequent guest on “Sports Center.” Neither one of them gives a damn about the presidency. They just like being celebrities.
