your comments are full of deceit.
Paterno was a good man. Not perfect but no one is.
I am younger by 30 years and until the entire Sandusky thing came out I had little to no idea of the whole child predators work. Now we all are on the look out but back then......not so much.
facts on the case:
1) Sandusky was investigated in 1998 and cleared. By the police, the prosecutors office and the folks who are supposed to ferret out pedophiles. They wrote Sandusky did not fit the profile and was guilty of bad judgment alone. Was Paterno supposed to go on a personal vendetta against a man cleared by the state? How would that be justified?
2) When the Young coach came to Paterno in the second case he told the kid to go to the university police and head of the sports program, which the kid did. No one disputes that Paterno followed procedure. Sandusky was out of the program by then, though he did have access to the Fieldhouse. the only thing Paterno could have done more was to bar him access to the clubhouse, with no evidence one way or another on his guilt. while in retrospect he should have, it was not clear at that time there was guilt.
Now today with all the awareness of how pedophiles operate one would be more proactive, but back then, normal folks just did not know about this stuff.
3) The stories of the young coach and the folks he went in Penn State are different. Interestingly neither of those man, both charged with perjury were tried., it seems the prosecutor did not have a sufficient case. I do not mean to bash the young man, he paid a high price but his stories changed sufficiently between initial testimony, what he said at the Grand jury and statements he made to others that we are not quite sure how he worded his initial complaint to the university.
4) the young individual who was showering with Sandusky never confirmed the charges, indeed Sandusky was not convicted in that case. The young man denied any hanky-panky and in so far as I know has never gone back on that.
Now I have been involved in charges being made at a company level, not on this case but a person insisting folks were against him. I assure the folks investigating make it very clear that none of use was to make a judgment or act on any individual feeling as the rights or wrongs in the case.
Paterno has been libeled by folks that do not care to find out the facts of the case. In retrospect he might have done more and his reputation has suffered for that. Bu sins of omission and a lack of knowing the hearts of men do not make the man guilty of being an accessory of the crime.
My father was born and raised in Pennsylvania, from Lancaster and there are relatives there and in Loch Haven.
I have old academic colleagues at Carnegie-Mellon.
Now what were you saying about the “other side of the country”?
You’ve shown you have nothing to contribute to the thread. Find something else to sour on.
How’s Joe Paterno? We going to bring that back? How about that whole deal?
That’s three phrases.
How’s Joe Paterno.? Is not a question about a statue, particularly coming from a guy who called for Penn State’s program to be shut down when it all happened. Trump will say whatever he thinks he should say to a given audience.
We’re gonna bring ***THAT BACK***?
How about ***THAT WHOLE DEAL***?
People in Pennsylvania knew EXACTLY what he was talking about.
Only anti-Trump trolls would act like morons jumping up and down saying it meant Trump claiming to bring Joe back from the dead.
And today, it’s got no grip on anything. Some of the morons in the media have been reined in by their alphas.
No one in Pennsylvania had any idea what he was talking about. If he were a better campaigner, he would not have broached the issue. Period. It's 100% no-win. No one here was talking about it until yesterday. It's not an active topic of conversation, regardless of what people on the left coast may believe (or pretend to try to make others believe.)
Social media from persons in PA are abuzz with comments supporting Trump that it was in reference to the Paterno Statue.
Alright, that’s enough of this. You’ve had your opportunity to comment. Move on to something else.
"We're all ignorant, just on different subjects." - Will Rogers
Joe Paterno was professedly ignorant on the subject of homosexuality. The quote I saw was, "I never knew anything about a man with a man."
