Actually, the bottom line is the GOP establishment will never let Cruz win at the convention. He has no shot at winning by the vote and no shot at winning at a convention controlled by the establishment. There is no reason for him to hang in there.
I disagree with your premise: that Cruz cannot get a majority of delegates on a 2nd or subsequent ballot. Cruz has been working these delegates for some time now. Plus, these delegates are not some monolithic entity, taking marching orders from some dark Lord of the Establishment. My county commissioner is running for delegate here in PA. He’s been in office for a number of years. He’s always held the line on taxes, and been a solid conservative. I completely believe he would vote for Cruz. I think the delegates will be, on the whole, slightly more conservative than your run-of-the-mill GOP primary voter. Cruz definitely has a good chance to get 1,237 votes at the convention.
You are so right. But surely he knows the antipathy the establishment holds for him and that they will not let him have the nomination. I wish I knew the reason he is hanging in - maybe he has been promised something, if not the nomination.
Unification needs to happen now so the consensus can be used to firm up the Senate which is also in jeapordy as we speak.
A Trumpor Cruz ticket needs a working coalition in Congress from the getgo to effectively reorganize government, appoint cabinet members and purge agencies.... Build the wall.
We cannot get THERE from where we are YET.
The sooner the better. Castration of the GOPe needs to be fait accompli by convention time.
that doesn’t make sense. you want Cruz to drop out now to bulk up trump and I say no way.
they are both going into the convention with not enough votes and Cruz has the better chance of winning it. And he is smarter and a solid conservative. Trump blows with the wind
