If they change it from 1237 to 1400, it will be the end of the Republican party—literally the end. Not just for the presidency, but senators, congressmen, governors, & dog catchers. The backlash against the GOP would be so large that people would refuse to vote for any GOP candidate at any level in November.

I would hope cooler heads would prevail in Cleveland, but you never know.

This forum is constantly bombarded with posts accusing Cruz of cheating and stealing votes. Yet no one is ever able to show how Cruz broke any rules or how votes actually got stolen (which is rather silly). So yes, I am serious.

I meant split as in they each win 50% of the remaining delegates in the remaining primaries.

It was a “what if” exercise to determine about what each would have when the convention started.

I’m not suggesting that Trump and Cruz would get together and decide to split anything.

The majority rule - 50%+1 - has been in place since 1854. The only other alternative proposal has been a two-thirds rule, such as the Democrats had until the 1930s.

I believe the reference is to bandwagon and unity votes from uncommitted and released delegates.

I was listening to Rush driving yesterday, and a caller started talking about just that—armed revolt. And the radio went silent—dead air, and stayed that way for several minutes.

In all honesty, I got the impression someone pulled the plug on the broadcast.

“I’ve not seen the interview, ...”

The interview was just an opinion, perhaps based on hearsay from other RNC members or maybe just an attempt to downplay discontent among his own followers.

“..., I suspect the GOP is dead meat anyway...”

That’s looking more and more probable, unfortunately.

I'm sorry. I mistyped the 35% that Trump earned. My point stays the same. That number is actually on the low side for Trump support in OH. Romney's pleading or whatever enhanced Kasich's vote count in OH.

What I'm wondering is if that 35% Trump vs 13% Cruz wouldn't first ballot assign the delegates to Trump. It's gonna' get interesting, because rules are going to have to be clarified, and in a fair way.

Rubio has 173 delegates.

Carson has 9 delegates.

Bush has 4 delegates.

Rand has 1 delegate.

Mike Dale has 1 delegate.

Carleton Sneed has 1 delegate.

11 delegates are uncommitted.

Kasich has 144 delegates.

Cruz has 533 delegates.

Trump has 757 delegates.

Per this tracking site: http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P16/R

Perhaps, since he is assuming Kasich won’t be elegible, he is subtracting all the non-Trump delegates.

But good news for Kasich. IMO Trump will get the nomination if he has 1,000+ delegates when the primaries finish. He knows how to make deals.

It will be fun watching VP nominee Kasich doing a Spiro Agnew imitation as Trump's attack dog.

For the record, the armed revolt was your comment, not mine.

Btw, Rush is a two bit party hack, going into obscurity like Beck et al, for instance.

"But go back to calling everyone who bests Trump a thief, take his advice and call and threaten Cruz supporters, and don’t ask yourself whether he’d trash the Constitution if he disagreed with its “rules” because you will almost certainly be disturbed by the obvious answer."

Hmmm OK ahhh could you point out where I said anyone who beats Trump is a thief?

And when you can't be man enough to apologize.

All I noted it that if THIS is they way it is now or is how it is always been in the RNC (Back room deals choose the Candidate in the primaries and caucuses instead of the voters) then I will strive from now on to destroy the Republican party.

Like I noted in that other thread I never remember in all the other elections I have participated in Delegates getting awarded to candidates other than the primary or caucus winner and such has only happened in recent elections that I remember. And Like I say IF that is the way it has always been or if it is how it is now then either way I will strive to destroy the Republican Party. And if that lovely day every comes on the next morning I will set my sights on the other half of the Uniparty.

The point is Cruz was the beneficiary of a corrupt GOPe system that was set up to give the state to an insider like Jeb. And rather than condemn the GOPe shenanigans he has praised them. That is Cruz’s fatal error and why he is crashing in the polls as I type this.

Going into the 1860 convention, Seward had 74% of the required delegates. Lincoln had 44% of the required delegates. Although their were a bunch (4 or 5?) other guys that were about 20% of the way there.
