What is it about the Duluth-Two Harbors expressway?
In February it was a Nissan Sentra doing 137 mph. And on Friday night a jet-black 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS was clocked at 171 mph on that stretch of Minnesota Highway 61.
Hermantown Police Department Deputy Chief Shawn Padden was on loan as part of a Minnesota State Patrol "Toward Zero Deaths" DWI saturation effort Friday night when the radar in his Dodge Charger squad car started screaming

Just about all the factory big cc type race bikes from the factory will do up around 190 mph although i believe a few years ago they started limiting them to 175-180 mph which is no big deal because all you do is install a delete switch that over comes the rev limiter.
I don’t care how fast they say it was going. Its not going to outrun all that ugly its wrapped up in.Mustang beats its brains out in speed and looks.

“Sorry I do not believe that.”
It was all downhill.
Yes
"Like a Rolling Stone"
Ahh princess on a steeple and all the pretty people
They're all drinking, thinking that they've got it made
Exchanging all precious gifts
But you better take your diamond ring,
You better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him he calls you, you can't refuse
When you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you've got no secrets to conceal
How does it feel, ah how does it feel?
To be on your own, with no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
Its not a matter of can you but SHOULD you. Once you get around 150 mph something completely out of your control like a rabbit, or a chunk of tire, or even a decent sized rock can turn you into a missile. Younger and more foolish I have been at high speeds but these days, even on a straight deserted road, I wouldn’t trust my life to the DOT’s maintenance.
“GM rant machine spinning down..”
I bought a Safari van when they first came out. I treated it well. First transmission ? Gone at 12,000 mules. Second at 23,000. Third at around 40,000. Saw the mechanic in a local bar. We got to talking. He said everyone at GM knew it was a faulty design, and to put in a fourth transmission and get rid of the van. And I had to pay a $100 fee with each repair! Never again.
Crazies are everywhere. This Russian motorcyclist takes the cake.

“In December 2013 the Texas Toll Road Authority let Hennessey Performance open up one of their 700HP C7 Corvettes on the new Toll Road before it opened.
200.6 mph and 203.9 mph”
That’s pretty fast, but not as fast as:
Bugatti Veyron Super Sport hits 246.4 MPH - this is on a closed highway, just outside of Ketchum, ID. Happens every year.

The sentra was a previous speeder, some idiot 18 yr old. This was a camaro. For whoever asked if it was the same 61 Dylan wrote/sang about kind of but not really. He meant old 61 that meanders along lake superior.
To the guy who said it must have been downhill, nope that stretch is flat.
The Ohio Highway Patrol used Dodge and Plymouths in the mid 60’s with 426 Wedge engines.
People in Germany and Italy drive +120mph every day as part of their daily commute. I don’t see the problem if the speed is safe for the conditions and the car.
We call it GM-itis. Stuff starts falling off of those things around 18 months.
I like American cars, as long as they aren’t GM or Chrysler.
Even before the Hayabusa and ZX-11, we would have great fun with our 1000-1100cc sportbikes and guys with supposedly fast cars.
Now and then one would attempt to challenge out in the open. The fun was to just hold back and pace their acceleration like they had a chance, then when they started to lose steam, nail it and shoot away. We called it ego adjustment.
LOL! I had a Datsun F-10. Probably one of the ugliest cars ever built. Times were tough.
Just sold my ‘06 CBR1000RR this past Saturday.
Going Thursday morning to pick up my brand new BMW S1000RR.
I had a BMW 750i up to 140+ and it wasn’t even breathing hard. It had 180 in it easy. But I didn’t.
When I was a kid living in McLean, VA, we had two favorite local spots to drag race. Closest was the stretch of Rt 123 (?) right out in front of the CIA headquarters in Langley. The other was on the Dulles Airport access road right where it joined the Beltway. There was no traffic early in the evening back then. The place outside the CIA had a traffic light - how convenient.
Pretty sure it’s U.S. 61. Dylan was talking about the other end, down in the Mississippi Delta.
