Thanks. Looks good.

Hubby's mother used to make these. I think in the 35 years we've been married I made them once.

Get with it lysie. Make them soon.

One other thing I just thought of. When I was watching my mom make them some years ago, she put the meat mix in the leaf then rolled it, then took the cabbage leaf ends that were on either side of the rolled up part (hope that makes sense - hard to describe) then poke the leaf on either side in to the roll.

I eventually said, Mom, what if you did it this way, which seems much easier to me:
start the roll, take the leaf that is outside the roll on each side, fold those into the roll, then keep rolling.

These take a little time to make, but not too bad. I usually make quite a few (never totally sure how many we’re having for Christmas Eve dinner), and we normally have a few meals left over for my sister, BIL, nephew and me. They freeze fairly well, too. I normally use 2 heads of cabbage, usually at least 2 big cans of the canned tomatoes, 1 or 2 of the small cans of tomato sauce, about a cup or so of rice (+/- to your liking) and about 1-1/2 lbs of hamburger and 1/2 lb of ground pork, which makes quite a few - I’m thinking at least 16-20 (depending upon the size of the cabbage leaves). I used to make them all in a very large Revere pot, last time I used to about 4-5 quart pots, and I think that was better.
