“Nominate our guy despite the fact that 70% of the populace hates him, or we won’t vote for you.”

You GOPee types slashed the tires on the Trumpmobile, and then started b*tching about the slashed tires.

The Democrats in Wisconsin crossed over to vote for Cruz to make SURE that the luzer stayed in the race.

And here you all are, swaggering around like it's the Second Coming.

If Cruz was any kind of a threat to the Democrats, they would have popped that greasy little zit last Tuesday.

Trump's their REAL problem. He may still be, despite your best efforts. :)

I guess that means you don’t know who votes on the rules?

It’s the delegates. Which, in any competent campaign, consists largely of supporters of the major candidates.

If you really think the delegates of a candidate who has majority support are going to change the rules so that a majority is no longer sufficient, then you are beyond reasoning with.

I can tell you from my experience as a state delegate, no party boss is going to tell me how to vote. If fact at one convention, we (of pre-cursor tea party movement) through out the party appointed convention chair and voted in our own person. We then voted in our platform! What the Trump Camp and hacks are spreading is that all these Cruz people who are delegates are Trojan horses for the GOPe, will turn on Cruz and elect Paul Ryan. This takes conspiracy beyond credulity.

Trump's own behavior and general unlikeabilty slashed his own tires. It's only those well-meaning, but gullible people in his thrall that don't see him clearly.

The party could never get behind him because he's poison.

I also take your point. I suppose there are some who think playing by the rules is so distasteful that they hate a guy who does it.

Well, I guess that depends on what "playing by the rules" means. Boss Tweed played by the rules, too:

The GOP has rules - not very ethical ones, but rules they be...

Most of the Trump people are not gullible. Far from it.

The crluzers are the gullible ones. They're standing around, waiting for the check that the GOPee promised them was in the mail. LOL! :)

Unless the delegates are hand-picked by the machine. Lots of money to throw around, you know.

Not everyone who despises trump is a cruz supporter or thinks he’s the second coming. some of us are disgusted with all of the options but will vote for the nominee whomever it is, neither of whom is likely to defeat Hillary in the fractured state of affairs. But to deny Trump’s very real drawbacks and high unfavorability makes his supporters look like mindless drones. far too often the trump supporters start squawking about Ted cruz when someone criticizes trump, when ted cruz is largely irrelevant to the very real criticism of trump. I am still waiting for someone to address the criticism of trump without referencing another candidate.

Yeah, whatever. They have elections at the local and state conventions. The original poster on this thread could have gotten herself/himself elected as a delegate if Trump had bothered to try to organize people. Is she/he “hand picked” by the machine?

The Republican establishment has been working diligently to pump up that very same high unfavorability rating.

Two months ago, the Republicans had the election in the bag with Trump.

You should ask yourself why they didn't want the presidency.

The 2016 presidency and the future direction of the Supreme Court was lying in the middle of the road like a shiny unattached gold piece. All the Republicans had to do was bend over, and pick it up [back Trump for the nomination].

There. How was that? :)

Trump has never polled well for the general election. How this means he had it “in the bag” two months ago is a mystery.

You are being sold a bill of goods. You want to believe.

If Dems were cheating the voters. That’s what I mean, and that’s what everyone knows is happening. Disgraceful.

Who is being cheated? If the voters fail to give one candidate the majority of the delegates, then the delegates have to decide at convention.

What is not understood or accepted about this process?

Two months of ceaseless attacks by his OWN party doesn't raise one of your eyebrows?

The yellow rag National Review published a whole attack issue on Trump. Are you claiming that didn't have any sort of effect nationally?

How about if you and the GOPee [but I repeat myself] had spent those two months building Trump up instead of tearing him down?

You WERE sold a bill of goods. And what's more pathetic - you actually believe it.

You mean the voters that aren’t even asked, polled, or allowed to vote? As in Colorado?

Yep, cheatin’ Ted strikes again. The man has no honor at all.

believe it or not REAL GOP VOTERS dislike trump, with zero connection to the GOP establishment. My friends and family are republicans, just your run of the mill generic republican voters, who cannot stand him. will vote for him in the general bc they will not elect Hillary willingly. But the GOPe is not driving up the negatives, the twitter meltdowns acting like a 2 yo when he’s even remotely criticized, the fact that he has never held a conservative view prior to running for office, THESE are the things that drive up his unfavorability. the trump voters believe they are the only legitimate voters in the electorate, well sorry, that is simply not the case. Trump has garnered what 37% of the vote? the 63% who have not voted for him are every bit as legit.

They got to vote for delegates. Delegates could be pledged to a candidate.

It’s indirect, but it’s still voting. Just like voting for electors in the presidential primary.

Trump’s behavior and switching of positions has cost him votes from the republican electorate. Many republicans, myself included, doubt that he will nominate legitimately conservative Sup Ct candidates. so the gold looks a bit like tarnished brass to some of us. like 67% of us.
