A path that leads off a cliff. Can you imagine the number of Repubs, conservatives and Trumpists that would stay home if the GOP ran someone selected by the party establishment and not the people? It would be the biggest Presidential election loss in US history and repubs in the house and senate would be massacred.
I believe the point here is the Electoral College hijacking the election if a third party run by Trump causes no one to get the required EV.
But it wouldn’t matter. According to the article, if no candidate gets a majority, the House decides.
