They wanted to bring more in, and they weren’t going to have the public turn against them.
The public has a funny way of saying, “Wait just a darn minute there!”

What baffles me, is the drive to bring in people like this, and perhaps that’s what you were addressing too.

Germany has its own version of the cheap labor express. Oldsters retiring, dying off, not enough young ‘uns to support the social benefits - so they need immigrants. The problem is that in this case the immigrants bring BIG problems themselves - can’t speak the language, have totally different customs and mores, have no respect for and in many cases hate Western values - all which require a big expansion in social spending.
Oy vey - Germany has BIG problem.
