Four Reasons Republicans Should Rejoice at Cruz Beating Trump
PJ Media ^ | April 8, 2016 | T. Elliot Gaiser

When a political party picks one candidate over another, the party signals to the broader electorate what it represents. If the Republican Party nominates Ted Cruz instead of Donald Trump, it will represent one of the greatest practical and moral victories in the Republican Party’s noble history.

Cruz’s enormous victory in Wisconsin this week makes it more probable than not that Donald Trump falls short of the required 1,237 delegates – 50 percent plus one of the 2,472 total delegates to the convention – to cinch the nomination on the first ballot. Combined with savvy delegate recruitment and a mounting string of endorsements, Cruz is setting himself up as the most likely nominee in a contested convention.

While many Trump supporters might decry this outcome under the stated rules of the party as the “establishment” countermanding the voters, this broad theme oversimplifies. Both Trump and Cruz exist outside the “establishment." The more interesting question is what statement the GOP makes by picking the particular candidate Cruz over the particular candidate Trump.

If Cruz wrests the nomination from Trump with a renewed message of unity and opportunity, the party as a whole should rejoice and celebrate. Indeed, there are four reasons the party should be dancing inside at the prospect, because Cruz defeating Trump represents:

More equivocation that doesn’t altar the fact Ted “A Time For Truth” Cruz is in bed enthusiastically fornicating with the establishment elite he professed to not be a part of.

The “enormous “ victory in Wisconsin was worth about 4 dozen delegates more or less. Those delegates are worth no more than any other delegate.

Now Ted writes checks to Carly and Walker for their support.

Both C and W are very pro life and conservative by most standards. Its amazing how really good people like these two, and Cruz, are the enemy to Trump supporters. Yet Trump said lets have even more ethanol (corn fraud) and Walker should have given in to the unions and raised taxes etc.etc. etc. Lets not forget we need to punish 15 year old girls coerced into abortions. Unreal.

Very good analysis. The author makes four good points.
Cruz represents “a long-term investment in American conservatism’s future.” Cruz “would be conservative principle defeating personal celebrity-driven pragmatism.” Cruz gives “attention to the complexities and details of implementing a conservative policy agenda.” And Cruz has “hard work and organization.”

In review, according author Glaiser, Cruz is American, conservative, principled, brilliant and hard working. 2 (brilliant, hardworking) out of 5 is 40%.

Whether Cruz can beat Hillary or Bernie? We need better than a 40% chance.

I had a feeling you would try to spin this. That is a catch all disclaimer for the 3 source of funds if you use the Source of Funds drop-down. Pay attention at the top before it lists the donors:

From the opensecrets.org link: "This page shows contributions grouped by contributor to the candidate's campaign committee only." (the other drop-downs will specify how those were acquired).

The catch-all disclaimer may or may not apply to this but one thing is for sure. You claimed Goldman-Sachs did not give a dime to Ted Cruz's campaign and that turned out to be not true as in some way or form here, they did.

“Cruz can lead with his truly conservative principles, and the American public will follow him. “

Is that why the same American public elected Obama twice? Because they were aching for truly conservative principles?

We have to have someone who can excite more than the conservative base. Trump is pulling in blue collar working people like Reagan did because he has been fearless about touching the third rail of immigration and trade. These people may be more populist than conservative but they are patriotic and we need them.

If Trump wasn’t in this race the GOPe would have crushed anyone bold enough to bring up these issues, much less make them the opening salvo. I was for Cruz and only Cruz until I decided on Trump, so I’m not hostile to him, but I think that a lot of Cruz fans don’t appreciate how important Trump has been to us all. He has battered the GOPe senseless, and many more voters are becoming aware that they exist and who they are.

If Cruz manages to win the nomination at the Convention it will be in no small measure due to how Trump has reset the national agenda by smashing political correctness, and by breaking the back of the Sea Island Republicans and their stranglehold on the party. Now we just have to pray that the insurgents don’t have the nomination stolen from them at the Convention despite having won the vast majority of the primaries.

Goldman-Sachs hasn't given one dime to Ted Cruz's campaign. According to Open Secrets anyway.

Goldman Sachs people have described what they do as selling "shit" to the Muppets. Besides influence peddling, (I admit that's a stretch with the execrable and despised Uriah Cruz)that has been the sweet Heidi's job. She shovels crap investments to widow's and orphans. She is a managing director. That is a big job at Goldman. She got paid really well to be an NWO shill. Why don't you really look at your fraud favorite candidate.

You forget - once both Cruz and Trump fail to get a majority on the first round of voting, ALL those delegates are suddenly unbound. They can vote for whomever they like. And just because they may be verbally telling Cruz’s they’ll switch to him from Trump doesn’t mean that any of them necessarily will.

Keep in mind also that the GOP Exec committee can change the rules under which the convention will be carried out all the way up to the day before the convention begins. If they think there’s any chance Cruz might pull something off - poof - rules change that will destroy that hope.

You claimed Goldman-Sachs did not give a dime to Ted Cruz's campaign and that turned out to be not true as in some way or form here, they did.

Again, they did not. That would be illegal. The amounts given come from employees of Goldman-Sachs. Big difference. Your claim that Goldman-Sachs contributed to the Cruz campaign is patently false.

After Wisconsin, there is close to ZERO probability that tRump will get to 1237. If tRump doesn't win the nomination on the first ballot at the convention, he is finished.

OMG! Goldman-Sachs wouldn't be listed there if there wasn't some way around it like it is explained in the catch-all disclaimer. It just said it couldn't be at the federal level but it does explain how else it can be done. It's right there in blue and white. It's true or Goldman-Sachs wouldn't be listed.
