Whatever may come of this election, I hope it will mark the end of conservative support for anyone named Bush or associated with the Bush family. They love all things Clinton, so what does that say about their beliefs and values?

Hillary doesn’t care about women, Laura. Don’t be stupid. But then, neither does Trump. Trump sees women as “pieces of ass.”

I respect Laura Bush for being a dignified first lady but she is a lot more liberal than most people know.

Yay, Cecily - way to modify the tile to include: 'A Republican' when that's not the true title.
and this garbage:
Many in the packed auditorium took her words as a coded criticism of Mr Trump, GOOO FREEPERS! Lets act like the pansies that believe the 'coded threat-microagression' PC brain sludge like the little snowflakes on campuses today.

More commie lib BS. It happens every election. The commie libs always claim that some prominent Republican is going to vote for the ‘RAT in hopes of getting their ‘RAT nominee some credibility. It used to been Nancy Reagan but she died.

I remember the hope we had when a ‘pro-life’ President George W Bush was elected. For eight years he paid lip-service to the movement. Only after he left office did we get to understand that Laura was pro-choice all along. Talk about getting the elitist shaft!!

I don’t see where the headline comes from.

I don’t get that from what she said.

saying she wants the next American president to be someone who cares about women in Afghanistan.

Since 1988 when both parties did everything they could to insure a Reagan and or his vision would never rise again. The sold us on NAFTA GATT all the Clinton banking-brokerage reforms, Fannie and Freddie on Steroids ( in fairness GWB did try to stop this ) and look where we are.

In many ways the Country economically ( and in so many other facets) is a steaming pile of dog doo-doo compared to the go-go days of even the early 90's Of which was the tail end of the Reagan Revolution that Slick Willie inherited, it wasn't his economy, he didn't do a damn thing.

Laura and She who shall not be named, can't have us wake up from our slumber and realize how back the Bush's-Clinton's-Obama have FUBAR'd us because that might mean the History books need to be re-written or we would really get pissed off, but don't go there...

Nevermind Trump 2016, Buchanan 2016 is sounding better every day...

Pat's 1992 Convention Speech someday soon might be raised to the stature of Reagan's "The Speech" but that is just me...

Dear Laura, Hillary does NOT care about women in Afghanistan. Be sure to eat your prunes for breakfast. Sometimes a backup goes from our bottom to our brain.

I don't care about women in Afghanistan, Mrs. Bush. I care about my wife and daughter, and my fellow Americans. Now we see why Bush stupidly lost focus with the "girls going to school" PR nonsense, instead of crushing the enemy. Laura is such a phony.

Laura Bush represents a much bigger problem that we need to face.

I personally know MANY otherwise rational conservative Republican women who say that they will never vote for Trump. The older ones say that they just won’t vote, but some of the younger ones say that they will vote for Hillary over Trump.

It is possible to win back the presidency with a majority of blacks and Hispanics wedded to the Democrat party, but it is not possible to win if we lose most of the 50.8% of the population that are women.

If Trump gets the nomination I will vote for him, just like I held my nose and voted for Romney in 2012 and McCain in 2008. I wish I could find some reason to believe that Trump is more conservative than Romney or McCain, but I cannot. Regardless, Trump is without question far preferable to the left-wing Democrat alternatives. I honestly do not know how our Republic can survive four more years of Democrat rule.

But a bunch of middle aged white guys are not going to be nearly enough to beat back the Democrats, especially when some of the middle aged white guys keep saying that they will never vote for Trump or that they will never vote for Cruz. The #NeverTrump and #OnlyTrump rhetoric is going to do us in.

Here on FR, we have a constant barrage of Trump supporters saying that they will never vote for Cruz and Cruz supporters saying that they will never vote for Trump. We are going to have to figure out some way to unite behind whoever wins the nomination, whether it is Trump or Cruz, or all we can look forward to is at least 4 years of President Hillary.

Remember when Laura Welch got away with DUI manslaughter as a young woman. She doesn’t want us to.

The Bushes and Clintons are far too connected.

Also, you can’t care in a vacuum for Afghani women. It’s their lifestyle, men and women, that is so horrible. Their culture must go. The women are victims but if they stay within their religion they can’t ever escape.

Typical liberal, who cares more about people in another country than her own.

It is long past time that Bushism be uprooted root and branch. No more Bushes, and no more Stealth Bushes such as Cruz.

The article reads way too much into Laura Bush’s comments. I don’t think she’s “hinting” that she’d support Hillary. Having said that, I agree that its time for the Bushes to go the _________ away.
