If Trump is that close he’ll cut a deal with John Kasich for the VP slot. That would get him the nomination on the first ballot.

I don’t think he would even have to make Kasich VP. If he’s within 100 delegates he can cut deals with enough non-Cruz delegates out there to cinch things up.
If Trump falls short of 1237 why can’t Cruz cut deals with Kasich and Rubio to get their delegates?

I agree, Trump goes into convention with a deal, especially if Cruz+Kasich does not get Cruz over 1237.

If Trump is a few votes short and I’m not sure that will even happen he will use the 6 weeks or so between the last primary on June 7th and the convention to cut a deal with somebody most likely Kasich. Kasich has 143 delegates and that would be plenty to get the nomination on the first ballot. Trump is not going to walk into a floor fight at the convention it would be too stupid.
