Trump should do something he has never done: Debate Cruz 1 on 1 in a meaningful, issues-based debate. He should do this before he fails to get 1,237 delegates in the primary process resulting in a contested convention.

As you know, every other debate was a spectacle aimed at the “reality - pop culture” TV audience. Every other debate was purposed to raise ratings and revenue for whichever network was the sponsor.

Trump needs to show everyone that he has a detailed grasp of issues he will face when he is President. He needs to show everyone that he is not one-dimensional (”I’ll sue, it’s very big, you have a horse face, believe me, big wall, tweet-tweet, tariffs, excuse me, and I’m very rich”)

Trump needs to go one-on-one with Cruz to show off his over-powering understanding of economics, the bureaucracy, world history, US history, military strategy, current events, foreign policy, his political prowess, his grasp of judicial review, and his knowledge of the US Constitution and federal law.

It should go well for Trump - so why not?? He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

One on one, Trump will have a chance to make Cruz look like an idiot, everyone will see it, and Trump will waltz to victory.

As an added bonus, he’ll strike fear in Hillary’s heart! She’ll get a taste of what she will face in a meaningful debate. During this Cruz debate, Trump can slip in a veiled warning to Hillary, I suggest “I haven’t even started on her yet” or something equally frightening.

Trump is so smart... I’m sure he knows this already. He’s probably just waiting for the right time to propose a real debate with Cruz (not like these pansy debates we’ve seen already.)

I propose Trump and Cruz have an Apprentice like contest which involves some problem solving - like organizing planning for building a skyscraper. Something real.

Lets see which one is better at solving real life problems.

Absolutely. In any one-on-one debate Trump will wipe the floor with Lyin' Ted. That's why a real debate is the last thing Cruz wants.

Or, it could go the other way. I am assuming there would be constitutional questions asked?

You are right on one hand. There are core differences that each candidate has yet to clearly display.

On the other hand the idea of a clear defining debate assumes a debate setting that allows those important distinctions to be drawn out. There is no media that can run it that way. They are all clowns.

Trump is never going to do that. He would show everyone he is an empty suit on policy. He has no core conservative belief so unless someone was back stage feeding him the answers it would be a disaster for him with the general public. Thirty second sound bites play well on the stump, but not so much in a real serious debate. Cruz has been asking for that for month and all Trump does is tweet invective all day. He is running a reality show campaign because that is the intellectual level of most of his core supporters. The Kim Kardashian of politics.

LOLOLOL....like this is going to happen. Trump has no idea about issues. Cruz would stomp him into the ground like the no nothing he is.

Good idea. If the debate is not a clown show all of it. My only problem is Cruz’s child like presidential behavior in the last few debates. It probably makes Trump’s blood boil. Trump has to be coached to withstand Cruz’s childish behavior.
