What If Mexico Really Does Pay for Trump’s Wall?
The Atlantic ^ | April 5, 2016 | Uri Friedman

Posted on 04/06/2016 2:41:39 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The Republican front-runner has released new details on his plan. Here’s an attempt to take it, and his foreign policy, seriously.

Maybe it’s because Donald Trump’s proposed wall along the U.S.-Mexican border has more than doubled in height over the course of his presidential campaign, theoretically soaring past the Berlin Wall and Great Wall of China. Maybe it’s because Mexico’s former president said he wouldn’t pay for “that (expletive) wall.” Maybe it’s because the idea has been reduced to a call-and-response mantra at rallies. Whatever the explanation, Trump’s critics tend to dismiss his pledge to make Mexico “pay for the wall” as a cheap, chauvinist applause line at best and a dangerous deception at worst—an attempt to foist an impossible dream on an impossible benefactor.

“The most beautiful tall wall, better than the Great Wall of China, that will run the whole border, that he would somehow magically get the Mexican government to pay for,” Hillary Clinton mused in March. “You know, it is just fantasy.”

Is it?

There is good reason to treat Trump’s plan to build a wall on Mexico’s dime as the opposite of fantasy....

Trump was skyrocketed to being the frontrunner because of the ‘wall’ - actually his entire policy to fix illegal immigration and give jobs and the country back to Americans.

Cruz copied after he saw it was indeed popular.

If it wasn’t for Trump, it would’ve never even been discussed and Cruz would’ve been like Hunter and Tancredo as candidates years ago, with Jeb, Rubio, and Kasich leading the field in not discussing the elephant in the country.

Simple question..

Should someone that’s in the country illegally.......

Be allowed to transfer money in or out of the country?...

and that’s irregardless of the wall

after all someone that’s illegally in the country should not be able to legally physically pass across the border back and forth...

And therefore someone that’s illegally in the country should also not be able to legally pass funds/money back and forth across the border

There are many ways to get Mexico to pay for a BIG WALL that REALLY protects the real citizens of America. Something our Federal stooges have deliberately failed to do for soooo long. (It is called MONEY).

Perhaps Mexico, having paid for the wall, would say something like, "OK, we paid for it. It's OURS. Touch it and there will be trouble."

Just thinking.....

Even if by some miracle Trump is elected, there will never be a wall. Trump has no intention on building a wall. It’s a campaign gimmick to get angry voters to flock to him.

The article is VERY long but brings up some points. enviro whackos, lawsuits, making sure congress funds it will all be obstacles.

Not to mention obtaining the land the wall will be built on. A strip of land a thousand miles long and several hundred feet wide running primarily through private property. Probably far more property than that since you won't build the wall along the banks of the river you would build it several hundred feet or more from the waterline so you would also have to buy all the property south of the wall. The money required for that would run into the billions as well, and the legal challenges to the eminent domain acts will probably take decades.

The question is how do you stop them without disrupting the billions in legitimate transfers.

***********

In Texas it will have to be either on the Mexico or Texas side as the
border is the middle of the Rio Grande River in most places.
