Wisconsin Post Election Night Debrief…
The Last Refuge/Conservative Treehouse ^ | April 6, 2016 | sundance

Posted on 04/06/2016 7:48:49 AM PDT by Bratch

Great job Wisconsin.  All the campaign staff and volunteers should be proud of their accomplishments.  Team Trump winning 44 counties in the state, and Team Cruz winning 24 counties in the state.  [*There was one tie]

Congratulations Team Cruz on the overall victory with 48% of popular vote.

wisconsin map county

First, The Math:

Going into last night the Delegate race was:

Last night Team Cruz won 36 and Team Trump won 6.  So, after last night:

There are 769 Delegates remaining in the upcoming primary states.  In order to get to the magic number of 1237:

There are only 769 Delegates remaining.

The Next Contest is New York on Tuesday April 19th with a whopping 95 delegates(winner take all if single candidate 50% +1 vote).

If Donald Trump can win New York (all CD’s) with 50% of the vote, it will mean:

♦ A) Trump will lead with 853 delegates (only needing 384 of the remaining 674)
-and-
♦ B) Ted Cruz will be mathematically knocked out of the race to 1,237.  Cruz would still need 732 and there are only 674 remaining after New York.

So you can see how New York is infinitely more important than Wisconsin was.

Hence, the Ted Cruz team needing to sell the Wisconsin win as an opportunity to try and “reset the race”.  They are positioning to try their hardest to keep Trump under 50% of the vote in New York.   The media has been working diligently to help Team Cruz with the psychology of the 2016 election in that regard.

But Ted Cruz has a problem:

A New York Values problem.

The Donald Trump campaign and all of the Donald Trump supporters would be well advised to remind all New Yorkers of the previous disparaging comments made by Senator Ted Cruz.

That’s the current state of the race.

That’s the reality.

That’s the math.

However, there’s also the psychology of the race which, unfortunately, many new to politics -and many Donald Trump supporters- are falling victim to.

Remember, this is an insurgency.  You must modify your mindset to think like and insurgent.   Insurgencies have nothing to lose.  If insurgents are not victorious the system, which controls the dynamic, wins.   However, if insurgents do nothing, the same system, which controls the dynamic, also wins.

Do nothing and you lose.  Go to the mattresses and you might win. The choice is yours.

This is Saint Crispins day.

The insurgency, led by Donald Trump, is an existential threat to the professional political class and every entity who lives in/around the professional political class.  The entire political industry is threatened by the insurgency.  The entire political industry is threatened by Donald Trump.

Decision time.

Now you know why the entire Republican apparatus is united with Ted Cruz.  Now you know why the entire Wall Street apparatus is united with Ted Cruz.  Now you know why ever institutional department, every lobbyist, every K-Street dweller, every career legislative member, staffer, and the various downstream economic benefactors, including the corporate media, all of it – all the above, united against Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is an existential threat to the very existence of the Republican Party.

Donald Trump is an existential threat to every entity who benefits from the Republican Party.

Billion dollar defense contracts at stake.  Trillion dollar multi-national trade deals at stake.  The fundamental construct of decades of their united efforts to tear away at the very fabric of the U.S.A is at stake.  They too have nothing to lose, and they’re damn sure acting like it.

Who opposes them?

…..US !

tea party dc

So if you’re in it to win it, great.  If not, get the hell out of the way….  Because we’ve got New York to win, and you’re either lifting us up, or pulling us down !

I’m still suspicious of some sort of rules change since many of Trump’s delegates are just ‘bound’ to him on the first ballot and in reality are people picked at Republican Party meetings.

If it came to be as a means to denying him the first ballot win I think there would be angry people and a bad outcome for the Republican label this fall.

I was just thinking that myself, the Cruz and GOPe loyalists are like those citizens in the revolution loyal to king George and the crown. The insurgents and revolutionaries are those supporting Trump.

They don’t realize it’s not about the language that Trump uses as much it is about the message of reclaiming our country from the corrupted politicians and donors.

I live in PA and know several of the delegates here, one of them is the chairman of a Trump volunteer support group in my area. Although most of PA delegates go unbound, the local politicians here have been in support of Trump, do I believe if he wins PA he will get the majority of those unbound delegates.

They will not want to risk going against the will of the people because it’s a very politically active state.

I respect your opinion and it seems you respect the viewpoint of those who do not share it. I believe that’s what we need more of in order to enter into rational debates, rather than devolving into name calling.

One of the talking heads on Fox predicted that Trump will fall short of 1237 and lose to Cruz on the 2nd ballot.

I forget his name, but he has managed campaigns before.

are the delegates still bound to the people who have suspended their campaigns ?

According to rule 16 as currently written, yes.

RULE NO. 16 Election, Selection, Allocation, or Binding of Delegates and Alternate Delegates

... If any delegate bound by these rules, state party rule or state law to vote for a presidential candidate at the national convention demonstrates support under Rule 40 for any person other than the candidate to whom he or she is bound, such support shall not be recognized. ...

If Trump misses 1237 then there’s also a real possibility that Cruz wins on the first ballot with unbound delegates and Rubio’s delegates voting for Cruz.

Well, I don’t think Rubio’s delegates alone will push Cruz over the top. Cruz would have to win a majority of remaining delegates to get that close and from past results, he won’t.

I don’t see Trump being dumb enough to walk into that convention without knowing he has 1237 delegates for a first ballot win. He’s just not going to do it. If he has close to 1237 by June 7th he really has all the leverage at that point. Anybody wanting to get on the Whitehouse train will be wanting to deal with Trump.

Trump/Kasich is fine with me. Trump will also probably cut a deal with Cruz for his delegates by promising a SCOTUS appointment. I’d love that.

And then both Demscum and GOPe scum heads will explode all over the place!

Kasich is way to the left of Trump in ideology but the RINO establishment finds him “presidential” so that shows their hyprocrisy on the issue of being a “good” Republican

He’d be an effective govt bureaucrat for Trump, could work both sides of the aisle, and would not try to outmaneuver him all the time like Cruz who I think Trump genuinely scorns (Ted’s personality wins yet another friend)

So its up to Kasich who he wants to sell himself to for those 99 Ohio delegates. The bidding is probably going on fast and furiously

Rubio is a possible wild card. Does he want to make up with Jeb by falling in line with the establishment and tossing his delegates to whoever they pick, or align with someone like Trump who at least has a chance of beating Hillary (forget the baked polls), making him VP now and President maybe in 4 years... assuming Rubio was not a rented by the hour cabana boy in his past life, I always thought he’d be the best balance for a Trump ticket

Shoe has yet to drop on past indiscretions of all these men

That’s all well if his only goal is the nomination ... But all those people who delegates would have betrayed them and who explicitly voted against GOPe politicking aren’t going to compliment Cruz on his insider manipulation and vote for him in November.

With every one of these inside game moves, he proves he’s the exact opposite of what everyone, including Cruz voters themselves, want — a party that represents Americans, not one that abuses them.

I feel the same way. Trump and anybody works for me. VP is just along for the ride and to break the tie in the Senate. Honestly Kasich would be a much better bet as he’s a good party foot soldier and he knows everybody on the hill and he would have a lot better luck helping Trump shepherd his agenda through Congress especially if he had Newt as Chief of Staff.
