Texas is big and has some variable climates. Up north here it can be either dry or humid depending on wind patterns. East Tx is piney woods, more humid and even more further south in Houston, Beaumont, Corpus and Rio Grande Valley.
West Texas more drier and scraggly. Austin is liberal mostly and hill country (small ones) just to its west very nice.
People are generally nice and less uptight. Traffic is becoming so packed in the bigger cities. No state tax but property taxes aren’t real low (depending on location) but compared to NY or any northeast state a whole lot better.
A/C is a must..

I know that Texas has drive_through liquor stores; and I’ve heard the jokes about sobriety tests. (”Sir, you’re still sober.” (Highway patrolman hands motorist a six-pack of beer.)) And the jokes about getting a ticket for carrying a .45 in a .38 zone.

“People are generally nice and less uptight.”

A very good friend of our’s was a condo neighbor in Florida. It was his second home; he grew up and lived in Austin; Lake Travis area I think ??? Beautiful !! He was one of the nicest and mellow people we have ever met. Had that true Southern gentleman character to him. Sadly he passed away, we will miss him.
