Nice semantics but
But the establishment is backing Cruz
So if he ends up finagling the nomination, the establishment wins with a candidate coopted by their support
It aint gonna happen but if it ever did
Tricky Ted would put Tricky Dick to shame
Presumptuous Headline.
I fail to see how Pat “joins” Trump here. The article clearly contradicts the headline as the point Buchanan is making is that BOTH Trump and Ted must stand for Rule 40.
Or they will BOTH surely fall.
Pat Buchanan is a strong Trump supporter. He is extremely familiar with the workings of the convention. He knows that the delegates select the nominee. It take 1237 delegates to win. Trump MIGHT/PROBABLY WILL have 1237 when they get to the convention. If he has 1237, then he’ll be the nominee. If he doesn’t, then it will go to the convention on the 2nd ballot.
Many are saying that if it gets to the 2nd ballot that not even Cruz will come out of the convention with the nomination. So we lose BOTH Trump and Cruz.
Retaining Rule 40 means that ONLY Trump or Cruz could come out of the convention as the nominee.
IF Trump goes into the convention with 1237, then this doesn’t hurt him.
IF Trump goes into the convention with 1237, then it helps him AND doesn’t hurt him.
Don't anbody get their hopes up here.
If you parse the sentence, Buchanan is joining a movement, not joining Trump.
The title says: Buchanan joins “TRUMP-CRUZ Unity Movement”
Buchanan is ALREADY a Trump supporter and has been for a while now.
He’s joining a movement called “Trump-Cruz Unity”
Does that help?
You have a vivid imagination.
Trump does not need Cruz.
Rule 40 is in place for 2012 because the delegates put it in place.
The delegates in 2016 can KEEP it in place IF they vote for it to be kept in place.
If they are a majority, then they can not be defeated in any vote for any rule.
Trump’s and Cruz’s delegates combined already are just about 60 delegates short of the majority. They’ll have far more than the majority combined when they get to the convention.
IF they work together, they can establish ANY rule they want to establish, and keeping rule 40 is to the benefit of both Trump and Cruz.
It doesn’t take alot of imagination - trump hits Cruz with a leaping clothesline, while Cruz responds with a tilt-a-whirl crossbody.
> a movement called Trump-Cruz Unity
There is no such movement. It’s the dream of a loser trying to wheedle his way into a position.
If Trump does not get 1237 delegates, then he needs Cruz.
To me, this is a no-brainer.
I’m a Trump fan. You can check all over Free Republic and see that’s true and has been true for a long time.
This is to Trump’s advantage. It’s simple math, and it is a simple matter of delegates voting for the new rules.
Pat Buchanan is not a loser, and he isn’t trying to get into any position.
He’s trying to stop the establishment from sending someone out of the convention other than Trump or Cruz.
Cruz is completely antithetical to Trump.
I didn’t say Buchanan is a loser. Cruz is a loser.
No he isn’t.
Go down the list of issues.
They agree far more than they don’t.
Why, why, why, why indeed?
Let Trump ignore the GOP-e and disregard Cruz at the convention. Let Donald refuse to cooperate in any form or fashion.
That way, Ted and the GOP-e can co-conspire to give Donald the boot and leave Trump with nothing as he heads back home - empty handed - to New York.
As a Cruzer - this works for me.
Then listen to Buchanan. He’s more experienced than either you or me.
Why would Trump associate with a globalist who supports TPA/TPP?
Why would Trump associate with a globalist whose wife endorses the CFR plan for NAU?
