IS THE CRUZ CAMPAIGN MORAL?
WND ^ | 4/4/2016 | David Kupelian

Posted on 04/04/2016 8:10:36 PM PDT by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Here’s a simple question that desperately needs an answer.

Donald Trump won the Arizona primary in a landslide, 47.1 percent to Ted Cruz’s 24.9 percent, giving the GOP front-runner all 58 of that winner-take-all state’s delegates.

Right now, the Cruz campaign is engaged in a “furious” on-the-ground campaign in Arizona – and in other states won by Trump, including Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee – to convert Trump delegates into Cruz delegates on a second ballot, should there be a contested GOP convention this summer.

The question is: Is this moral?

Trump calls it “crooked as hell.” But let’s back up a little.

As the Washington Examiner reported Monday, in a story headlined “Cruz snaring Trump’s Arizona delegates” and posted in the lead position of the Drudge Report:

Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.

The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trump’s chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.

The New York businessman easily won last month’s Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruz’s 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the state’s delegates. That’s nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and they’re tied to him on the first ballot.

But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grass-roots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. He’s recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

Yet he didn’t know or have staffers that knew the different rules of the 50 states? Cruz, who is not a billionaire or a tycoon, did.

One of the biggest complaints about our Congress has always been that they are nothing but a bunch of lawyers. You're ok with Cruz doing exactly the thing that makes people hate lawyers, which is to ask, you're ok with Cruz pulling sneaky lawyer tricks to win the nomination? Are you under the impression that he'll win the general after he pulls this trick, or are you satisfied as long as Trump doesn't get in even if Hillary does?

This election has brought out the weirdest developments among people formerly known as conservatives.

Hitler- Whatever it takes to get rid of Jews.

Cruz- Whatever it takes to get in the White House.

Cruz voters really don’t follow the Golden Rule treat others like they want to be treated

if the GOPe made sure that every Cruz delegate put in place would vote Jeb on ever ballot after the first....then be screaming bloody murder

but again hypocrisy it’s standard for them going back to Cruz the Canadian born is eligible to be president... but Obama if he was born in Kenya wouldn’t have been

156 posts and not one explains the basis of calling Cruz actions amoral.

I won't address the "amoral" aspect of it - but I WILL point out the "penny-wise, pound foolish" aspect of it.

Ted Cruz doesn't bring in ANY new Republican voters.

Looking at the fact that Trump has three quarters of the primary voters that Mitt the Zitt got in 2012 - in HALF (21) the victories - I would say that Debate Boy should start brushing up on his basic math.

Cruz can "cleverly" co-opt ALL the delegates he wants.

He won't be able to co-opt the ACTUAL voters. Far from it. :)

What does “Come into the light” mean?

It's a line from Poltergeist, when the evil spirits were trying to con the children into coming into their realm...

Cruz doesn't bring in any new voters to the polls in the general.

If that's the case then all the 'new' Trump voters are voting because they perceive Trump scratches an itch they have and it's not based on any semblance of conservative principle.

Matter of fact, he's scaring them off in Wisconsin with his textbook "conservative" abortion stance.

Precisely. Because they are not conservatives. Pro-life conservatives aren't going to abandon Cruz for Trump's incoherent babbling on the subject. Cruz' position is conservative and steadfast. If that doesn't sit well with faux conservatives because they prefer the 'safe' red meat that Trump throws out then that's their fault. Besides, by your own admission, Trump's supporters don't concern themselves with such issues. It's all about the wall and trade.

Cruz can can kife the nomination from Trump all he wants - he won't kife the new Trump voters.

What new voters? Oh you mean the 90-something year old lady from TN who never found a reason to vote for almost 70 years until Trump showed up?

Or maybe you're referring to the Reagan democrat re-treads who abandoned their country for the last 30 years after voting for Reagan.

And so, he'll deliver the White House to a Hillary, or whoever her replacement is...

Which wouldn't surprise me one bit. That's what happens when people ride the coattails of the individual and not the policy or principle. I have every expectation that Trump's supporters will despair, disperse and abandon the political process after their savior does not receive the nomination. So, in that sense, we deserve everything we get. I can live with that. Most likely the 90 year old first-time voter will not be here in 2020 and 2024. But I will.

Sorry that some of us (including Ted Cruz) have not accepted Trump as our messiah, as you wish we would, but instead continue to campaign for a different (and more electable) conservative candidate. I recognize that we have thus become evil personified to you. The reality (which you cannot see) is that we are simply patriots who believe that America and its Republic is worth fighting for—and that is what we are doing —AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO.

True. But that's not really the issue is it?

If we really want to get down to it, it's that Trump supporters are retreads of the 2000 Bush v. McCain primary. People thought then Bush was too 'Christian' for them, the country and they wanted the 'realist and secularist' McCain.

Faith expressed in a campaign always made fiscal conservatives a little nervous and uncomfortable.

What do you expect from a member of a crazy religious cult- a cult where Cruz’ preacher father ( who speaks in tongues ) has ordained him to be a king who will ‘distribute the wealtg’?

If anyone would be considered a 'messiah' it would be Cruz.

Cheating the political process is neither patriotic nor heroic.

It is indeed amazing how deluded you Cruz followers are.

I think it is a great idea!

Why should an American company get the benefits of being American and then use foreign labor?

If they want to give up their U.S. protection, let the nation they are going to protect them.

MORAL?!? Probably not but it's politics...

What it does do, however, given that Trump is 'Trumped' by Cruz on a 2nd ballot, is put a RAT in the White House because Trump's followers will stay home if it proven (and publicized) what Cruz is and has done with Trump delegates.
