Heres a simple question that desperately needs an answer.
Donald Trump won the Arizona primary in a landslide, 47.1 percent to Ted Cruzs 24.9 percent, giving the GOP front-runner all 58 of that winner-take-all states delegates.
Right now, the Cruz campaign is engaged in a furious on-the-ground campaign in Arizona and in other states won by Trump, including Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee to convert Trump delegates into Cruz delegates on a second ballot, should there be a contested GOP convention this summer.
The question is: Is this moral?
Trump calls it crooked as hell. But lets back up a little.
As the Washington Examiner reported Monday, in a story headlined Cruz snaring Trumps Arizona delegates and posted in the lead position of the Drudge Report:
Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.
The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trumps chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.
The New York businessman easily won last months Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruzs 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the states delegates. Thats nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and theyre tied to him on the first ballot.
But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grass-roots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. Hes recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

Well said.
and if you think Cruz using the rules is not a bad thing, then why criticize Kasich for using the rules and getting rid of 40-b so he could be the nominee without getting the majority of delegates in 8 states.. he is just smarter than Cruz and using the rules to his advantage right?
Will you vote for the Republican candidate if it is not Trump?
I will follow the Romney Rule and write in my preferred candidate. If Romney is good enough for Cruz he should be good enough for me.
Or maybe I will vote for a non Trump GOP POTUS candidate because it really won’t matter and don’t want to be “blamed” for Hillary. Cruz or another GOPer won’t be elected POTUS in 2016 after elected GOP leadership colluded with Democrats to stop Trump. Down ballot is where the action is and I most certain will not be supporting a single GOPer if the nom is stolen from Trump.
Trumpers are in a win-win situation now. Either we get Trump as the nom or the GOP wing of the uniparty dies. Win all around. What’s not to like about that?
I can't wait for next week to see the Cruz guys whining when he will officially be unable to get to the necessary number.
Do you think the Democrats are moral? Do you think ISIS is moral? Do you think foreign leaders we are in conflict with are moral?
We need someone smart enough and tough enough to beat our enemies foreign and domestic, yet still follow the rules (also known as the Constitution). Cruz is the only one in the race who can do that.
If Trump doesn’t have what it takes to compete in that arena he needs to step to the side. Politics ain’t bean bag.
There is NO national "CONSERVATIVE PARTY"; there's the GOP, which has moved far away from its origins. Add to that, the fact that Cruz is a FRAUD and hardly "conservative" at all.
And if Cruz can’t win the nomination fairly his only hope is to stop Trump from doing it so he can then steal it at the convention.
156 posts and not one explains the basis of calling Cruz actions amoral.
Just because you find something to be against your desire does not make it less than moral.

Look at what Obamacare did to the Democrats....that will be a drop in the bucket compared to what will happen to the Republican Party if the GOP “steals” this nomination from “We The People.”
The Dems had the power and rules to go against the American voters and FORCE Obamacare on us....look at what those rules got them!
True!
Too bad he can’t get the voters to vote for him!
There's LOTS about Cruz that's "dirty" and "underhanded" and "nasty"!
Its just an expression.
It means come out from the dark side of the Trump obsession and vote for the really good candidate.
Sorry, I find it pretty insulting...I am not in the dark nor on the “dark side of the Trump obsession” just because I am supporting Trump.
BTW, this language that you and others use...such as “dark side” and “Trump obsession” ~ just the sort of stuff that we don’t need around here.
I
Yes, exactly, Cruz may be able to stop Trump from getting the number necessary and then steal the nomination, but he would have lost the war in the general election.
Don’t worry, next week we hear about the Cruz ‘surge’
When did I criticize Kasich?
But if you think he’s smarter than Ted Cruz ... that’s a little weird.
Why would we whine? As long as he keeps Trump below 1237 delegates, Cruz will pick up the nomination. Trump is getting outworked at the state level when it comes to delegate selection, and after the first ballot, there will be a tsunami of bound Trump delegates that will abandon him in favor of Cruz.
Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare - Trump has jumped out to an early lead, but it will be Cruz that crosses the finish line at the convention.
If Cruz was really that conservative, would the elites be supporting him ?
It was just a suggestion.
Relax.
I’m not gonna hurt you.
So Cruz will end up nominated with 1273 delegates in 2nd vote but no voters to go with those delegates. Great plan. Not! I hope Cruz knows it takes more then 1273 to win the general. What a mess Cruz is. If he gets 10 million votes in the general it will be a shock and well more then he deserves.
I’ll go ith Trump with money matters every time.
