Trump plans to choose experienced politician for VP
The Hill ^ | April 2, 2016 | Evelyn Rupert

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump said he is "95 percent" sure he would pick a veteran politician for vice president if elected.

He said he would choose “somebody that can walk into the Senate and who’s been friendly with these guys for 25 years, and people for 25 years and can get things done" in an extensive interview with The Washington Post published Saturday.

“So I would 95 percent see myself picking a political person, as opposed to somebody from the outside," he said.

Not every man jack in congress is an ahole, you know. There are a few decent ones.

As others have said before, he said what he said to get along well in business. And by doing so, he was brilliantly successful in getting things done.

His personnel hires have been stellar. I trust his judgement to continue to choose wisely.

But I think you can add crime to that as well, though not as important these three.

Trump has mentioned law and order many times, supported cops, and at least one cop org has endorsed him. I think that issue is on his short list of important issues.

Nah....100% means bet the farm. 95% means very good chance but don’t bet the farm : )

And that's why he can choose anyone he wants to win. his supporters just want to win. It frees him of ideology and reasoned stance. Winning is a reason Some Democrats jump on board, he wins New York, and the winning has begun. And his described VP candidate most fits Schumer's bill.

True, if the plan is to have Trump’s VP follow him. IMO, age is less of a factor than health.

Trump say’s he’ll pick an experienced politician.

The gopE won’t. They’ll pick Cruz.

Romney/Cruz 2016
Ryan/Cruz 2016
McCarthy/Cruz 2016
RINO/Cruz 2016

It keeps Cruz’s mouth shut and destroys his political career. Win or lose he shows he’s a part of the gopE and sure as hell no longer claim to be an outsider.

That's why Trump/Schumer 2016 is so awesome. He is an experience politician, he locks up New York, and it beats the GOPe ! It helps the Democrats win, but that is a small matter and irrelevant. Beating the GOPe is what's important.

And winning.

There are so many stretches and leaps in your response that further posts with you are pointless. Have a nice day.

So, many Trump supporters support him because he has been so successful in campaigning against The System, and now their hero is going chose for his VP somebody who has been successfully working in and with The system for 25 years?

Bwahahahaha. Those guys have been had.

But not a single one of them will admit it. They all will defend Trump for this new idea.

I don't like that Trump is picking an insider, but I doubt he could get away with picking an outsider. He actually has to interact with Congress if President. Had Cruz gotten out of the primaries much sooner, he may have been able to get away with an outsider.

Unless you can figure out how to throw out each and every single Republican in the House and Senate on their ass, whoever is president will have to make deals with the GOP. Even Cruz would have to do so. It seems likely he already has due to half of them endorsing him.

Whoever is president will have to get SCOTUS nominees confirmed, vetos sustained, cabinet picks confirmed, etc. Cruz can stand there as a solid concrete wall and prevent anything from being passed for maybe a year, and then Congress will start overriding his veto left and right. At that point we will probably turn into a parliamentary system with the Speaker of the House being head of government. That will be Ryan.
