My purpose is to defeat Hillary. Trump is far from the only possible candidate. In fact, he is by far the least electable person in the race. While it may surprise some folks who only interact with like minded conservatives, Trump has almost a two thirds disapproval rating nation wide. No one can win the general election with those kind of numbers. While his supporters really, really, really support him, they are a minority of a minority. (Republican primary voters)
Look, I understand the reasons behind Trumps support. It feels like the so-called conservatives that we have elected to represent us have tucked their tails between their legs and rolled over, and many folks are beyond frustrated. We want someone who will stand up and fight the left. Trump's bluster, braggadocio, and politically incorrect language makes him seem like just the guy we need to take on the left. Maybe so, but those very same (qualities/faults) turn off wide swathes of the population. I don't have a single female relative (almost all lifelong Republicans) or acquaintance who I can get to say that they would consider voting for Trump.

Look at the history — crossover votes, not the ‘gamesmanship’ of ‘operation chaos’ but actual crossovers.
More unity and energy in the base at the same time.
Don’t buy the astro-turf, the same kinds of ‘if you vote half a year from now’ polls that made Reagan look unelectatble.
Not that Trump is Reagan obviously, but look at how well he’s doing DESPITE all the Romney tricks, etc.
He’s the front-runner. The only possible front-runner.
Anti Trumps are opposed to unity. That simple.
