Two days after GOP presidential contender Donald Trump caused a firestorm after walking back his statement that women who have illegal abortions should receive some form of “punishment,” he said during another interview that abortion “laws are set,” and they should be left that way until changed.
In an interview on CBS’ Face the Nation – the broadcast of which will be aired on Sunday – Trump again attempted to clarify his views to moderator John Dickerson.
When asked by Dickerson – from a pro-abortion perspective — “What would you do to further restrict access to abortion?” Trump responded, “The laws are set now on abortion and that’s the way they’re going to remain until they’re changed.”
“A question was asked to me. And it was asked in a very hypothetical,” Trump explained about his prior MSNBC interview with Chris Matthews. “And it was said, ‘Illegal, illegal.’ I’ve been told by some people that was an older line answer and that was an answer that was given on a, you know, basis of an older line from years ago on a very conservative basis.”
When Dickerson mentioned a prior Bloomberg interview during which Trump reportedly said he believed abortion should be banned after a certain point in pregnancy, Trump replied, “I would’ve preferred states’ rights. I think it would’ve been better if it were up to the states. But right now, the laws are set….At this moment, the laws are set. And I think we have to leave it that way.”
“Do you think abortion is murder?” Dickerson asked. After considering the question for several moments, Trump responded, “I have my opinions on it, but I’d rather not comment on it.”
“You said you were very pro-life,” Dickerson followed up. “Pro-life means that…abortion is murder.”

Nothing can be done on Abortion until Roe v. Wade is overturned.
Just like the MSM, you left out the words “until they’re changed”. I’m so sick of twist and spin I want to vomit every time I see it done. It insults my intelligence but I suppose you count on it’s working with a good number of low info types. I’ll have to give you the fact that it does. However, I wonder; does it make you feel good about yourself?

Brave enough to tell the unborn they have to right to being born? No I don’t think he’s brave enough to say that. I think Cruz fears God more than man.

He is just shooting from the hip. These aren't his core beliefs. He has listened to conservatives on alot of issues, and has been doing his best to emulate them since he started running for president. Not being a core belief means, sometimes he answers the questions weird or even wrong.
When asked a question he hasn't already formed an opinion on, he doesn't refuse to answer the question or say he needs to think about it more. I think he just goes, now what would a extreme conservative say in this situation, and then answers,
Just as easily? Roe v. Wade has survived five Republican presidential administrations, three conservative-led Supreme Courts and Republican controlled congresses. For 43 years, it remains the Law of the Land.

You might want to worry about who Hillary will appoint.
So Trump stepped into it while striving to be a spokesperson for the pro-life movement. It was a very human moment of trying to apply logic to figure out what women want. He backtracked by saying the laws on the book are what we have. What he never did say is that it makes sense that if abortion in the future is a crime that the woman won't be punished in some way for having one.
I have two takeaways from this. One is that the pro-life official movement has been co-opted, just like everything else. The other is that Trump as any guy would really stepped into it when he tried to figure out what women want.
You are guaranteed, that if Hillary becomes Pres, that every hospital receiving federal funds (all of them) will be required to have abortionists on staff, as a condition for getting federal funds.
If Trump does not get the nomination, you are guaranteed that the GOP Establishment will give the nomination to some designated loser, rather than to Cruz.

That is not a very bright thing to do in any case. May reflect a problem for a Commander-in-Chief who will ‘shoot first, ask questions later’.
Need someone who thinks well on his feet or has close advisors who can rather than someone who just reacts regardless.
A form of punishment could be as simple as a class on human development and a mandatory review of sonograms of unborn babies. A fine and community service would also be in order. It would not have to involve imprisonment but should be left up to the states as Trump said.

A reversal by the Supreme Court would send the issue back to the states, and make it a matter of state law.
Many women have been taught to believe that accurate information about embryonic/fetal development is nothing but "pro-life propaganda" and they view abortion as a birth-control option, not as baby-killing. It is hard to educate them on that topic, because there is big money in abortion, and the abortion industry owns the media and politicians.
It is going to take a while to get the abortion laws overturned. And we won't be able to do it by simply overturning them. We have to do it by educating young women before the abortion industry has a chance to teach them falsehoods. Waiting periods and requiring abortionists to give accurate information help, but those really come too late--we have to reach young women with the truth BEFORE. The tide is turning, but it is a slow process. When enough young people are educated, then the laws can be changed.
The real trump is beginning to show. Early in the week it was big government, now it is leave abortion legal. He’s really the man to fight the establishment. Please reserve my seat at the ‘told ya so’ party.
But you know what else I'd want? A second abortion would bring a charge of murder.

Dumpsters were overflowing with mutilated babies, so then Planned Parenthood decided to sell the body parts to keep bloated, greedy Americans alive.
Great. Here comes yet another round of the Republican-abortion-circular-firing squad.
43 years later and Republicans are still taking shots at each other over abortion – something no president has any power over.
