President Obama boasted Friday about his administration's exemplary record on transparency related to nuclear materials, and cited as an example his decision to share U.S. security protocols with the world, along with information about the size of the U.S.'s highly enriched uranium stockpile.
As of Sept. 30, 2013 the nation had 585.6 metric tons of highly enriched uranium, a fact that hasn't been declassified in 15 years, Obama noted during the summit's opening session. The last public figure was 740.7 metric tons, and the difference shows the U.S. has reduced its stockpile by more than 20 percent.
"This type of information sharing … is an important part of the effort to strengthen global nuclear security," the White House stated in releasing the data. "The value of transparency has been highlighted by the United States throughout the Nuclear Security Summit process."

Marine aviation squadrons are salvaging aircraft parts from museums
House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry (R – TX) has been hearing from Marines at US military bases who have had to scavenge for parts to keep planes running.
“I have heard firsthand from service members who have looked me in the eye and told of trying to cannibalize parts from a museum aircraft … getting aircraft that were sent to the boneyard in Arizona back and ready to fly missions, pilots flying well below the minimum number of hours required for minimal proficiency,” Thornberry said.
Lawmakers are livid about the fiscal shortfalls, even if their budget infighting in Congress is partly to blame.
At issue are military readiness accounts stretched thin by more than a decade of war and four years of defense penny pinching. Earlier this month, chiefs from each of the four services told lawmakers that those two stressors have led to belt-tightening headaches for units across the military, in some cases deferring long-term needs in favor of short-term solutions.
The Marines have had to complain to lawmakers recently about being under-resourced, and are concerned that at any given time right now only 60% of their aircraft are flyable.

There are truly days where I’m amazed that some of those armed souls charged with Obama’s protection haven’t gone rogue.
It must be the hand of God that stays theirs.
So, the US has reduced our stockpile of highly enriched Uranium by 20%.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation have made millions in donations from a Canadian firm by allowing them to gain control of a major portion of our uranium ore which eventually became controlled by the Russians!
