MADISON, Wis. (AP) Ted Cruz says there is a risk that Donald Trump supporters would bolt from the Republican Party if he loses the nomination at the GOP convention this summer.
Thats why Cruz said in an interview on WTMJ radio in Milwaukee on Thursday that the best course is for the Texas senator to win a majority of the delegates before then.

I promise to ONLY vote for a natural born United States citizen in keeping with the founding fathers and the US Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land, that says we are a Republic that is ruled by the written law that is not driven by every whim of man’s political desire.
Cruz is up to his old tricks, like with Carson, someone lied and Carson lost votes Cruz.
please don’t fall for Cruz tricks.
There's a risk Cruz is telling the truth.
I wish Cruz would shut up and go away..but obviously not his nature.
I’m voting for Trump - which means I’m against the parties that have been destroying our country. I don’t care which party Trump is in.
“Well, as much as I share your sentiment, the risk that we will bolt is very, very high. I sure wont vote for Cruz - not now, not ever.”
And as far as the Cruzers now touting a Trump/Cruz ticket I will add No Effing Way.
Trump doesn’t need this foul-mouthed foreigner as a running mate.
Unfortunately Senator Cruz has shown Trump supporters how much he hates them....over and over...calling them violent and low information for starters.
So what is #NeverTrump?
Hear, hear.
And Cruz knows he will never win 85% of the remaining delegates. So what he just admitted was his own ambition and lust for power is more important than any of us. And if the party is destroyed, or Hillary becomes President......well, that’s just our tough luck because we didn’t back him. Nice.
I think Trump could very well win third party, as he draws Independents, Democrats and Republicans. He would lose a lot of the GOP Cruz votes, but feel he would compensate with all of the others.
I used to really like Cruz, but I have always felt he would not be able to win a general election.
If Cruz is the nominee, I’m going to do a write in and vote for Trump.
There’s no telling how this thing will go IMO....or voters for that matter....this election has ALL been risky pretty much from the get go.
I know that Cruz would never hand the general election to Hillary without a serious fight to win it himself.....Trump not so much....
You're kidding. Please tell me this is an early April Fools' Joke.
Trump must have thought long and hard before he decided to self fund.
Excellent point - he had to see a lot of this coming but figured it was worth doing anyway.
The “brilliant” Ted Cruz finally posits something intelligent. I wish he would honestly contemplate his chances of winning next.
He is absolutely right.
I don’t know how Cruz thinks he can get to 1237 by June. It is very close to impossible.
The write-in vote for “WTF?” could exceed the Gore and Stassen counts.
I keep rereading this. What is the logic here? Vat-tax Ted hasn’t considered the possibility that Trump supporters will bolt if TC does win the majority of delegates? What a maroon...
