What responsibility/penalties should the men get if they refuse to support the woman they get pregnant so they feel abortion is their only recourse? Also, what penalties should the people get who deny health care to women and children or who defund WIC programs? So as not to be hypocrites, would you PERSONALLY prefer to permit safe legal abortions, or have your tax money used to subsidize the rearing of the poor children who are not aborted so they do not end up as addicts and criminals who also cost you money. Unfortunately, the same people who oppose abortion also oppose doing anything to prevent the children born from growing up in the worst circumstances.

Please don't speak in absolutes. We cannot be considered civilized if we don't protect children, at all stages of life, including pre-separation infants. Now we're allowing abortion, providing birth control, subsidizing moms who have children, and the situation keeps getting worse. The problem is that a moral society cannot compromise on absolutes.

Ours has become a culture of death. Until mothers are expected to consider raising their children as a sacred obligation, abortions or not, there will be unwanted children. If anything, a woman is more likely to be responsible if she knows her actions will determine the path her life takes.

I remember the argument back in 1969-1970 in support of abortion. It was "if abortion is allowed, there won't be any unwanted children", spewed by a bunch of elitist liberal women I had the privilege of playing bridge with once a week. How has that reasoning worked for us?

Could we take care of our own? Sure. But not in the garbage society that has evolved from that pandering enabling mentality that began to prevail about 45 years ago.
