Chivalry is all but dead
Sorry to break it to you Miss Lahern women destroyed chivalry. As the Instapundit Glenn Reynolds points out chivalry was a two way street. If women do not act like a lady and decide being a slut is ok then men have no obligation to act as a gentlemen and will treat you as a slut.
As Spengler, aka Michael Goldman, puts it in his Law of Gender Parity:
In every corner of the world and in every epoch of history, the men and women of every culture deserve each other.
Another problem is women using men’s chivalry as a club to beat them over the head with.

Help stamp out Title 9.
It has turned girls into Jocks and boys into their weak sisters.
“Millennial Men”......do you mean those “macho” guys with tattoos from shoulder to wrist, that wear their baseball styled caps backwards? The ones that never could pass an Army physical?
No military service for their country. Their parents dodged the draft so their kids never even considered military service.
No boot camp, zero stressful combat area service, no ever seas time. No chance to find out who they are and what they can do, no risk, no connection to the price that freedom entails.
Wuss nation.
When I started elementary school in the 1960s, it was a rough and tumble world for boys. Unless it was pouring rain, we spent an hour outdoors for "recess". Schoolyard fights were common and unless it got out of hand, teachers looked the other way. It was generally accepted that boys needed to burn off energy and so had that hour in the playground to do so. Nobody ever heard of "Attention Deficit Disorder" and would have laughed at you if you tried to make a disease out of boys behaving normally.
Corporal punishment was also still done at school as recently as the late 1960s. Boys sent to the principals office would often get "paddled" and made to stand in the corner for a while. You didn't dare go home to complain to your parents or you would get the same there. In fact, you prayed that your parents would not find out you got paddled at school!
Starting in the early 1970s, all of this started going away rapidly. Zero tolerance policies for fighting went into effect. Corporal punishment was banished. Schools started hiring psychologists to help students "get in touch with their feelings." Hyperactive boys started getting put on medicine.
This gravitated into the home also, as parents became afraid that the schools might call social services on them if their sons reported that they were "spanked" at home or otherwise mistreated. The inmates started running the asylum. Students started "talking back" to teachers, with no repercussions. They got to dress however they wanted, which was usually torn jeans, ratty sneakers and a black T-shirt with the name of their favorite rock band.
Also, parents stopped giving their children demanding chores at home. I remember my father expecting me to maintain the entire yard including brush clearing, weed-pulling, lawn mowing, etc. Then for extra money, I'd see if my neighbors wanted me to do the same for them. These days that is considered "back breaking" work for children and landscapers were hired instead. When I was growing up, I didn't even know what a landscaper was. Everybody in my neighborhood were out raking their own leaves in the fall or shoveling their own snow in the winter.
So I can see what young men of today are skinny with no muscle tone. They likely never had to do any manual work in their lives. Also in the schoolyard, they never had to worry about defending themselves in a physical confrontation.
Whether all of this is a good or a bad thing is up for discussion. But boys are raised today not much different than the girls. The only difference is the wardrobe and even that is starting to blend together.
People complain about the absence of fathers, but I keep wondering about the mothers. As the daughter of someone mentally ill, I witnessed — and suffered — her effects on the family.
Many of the modern women I see — especially among the liberals — are extremely neurotic. They seem either overbearing or controlling; many are plain bad-tempered. Some are very immature — locked in their adolescence. Others are plain weird — either hippie-dippy or off (as in spectrum disorder). It’s as if the flakes, sluts, dykes, and geeks crowded out the normal. These kind of women really should not be mothers (let alone wives).
I’m not saying that I am the most together female on the planet. However, I absolutely cannot stand being around these women. I doubt a man can either as I am sort of a barometer.
Tomi if I were forty years younger...
Some men of all ages are chivalrous, and some are not. Most of us women would just appreciate politeness, such as holding the door for the person just behind you. Around here I haven’t noticed a difference based on age. There are too many men who seem content to sit back and let the women do all the manual labor, but then again, there are the others - the ones who refuse to walk through a door before you do.
I taught my own sons to always stand back and hold the door, and so far, not once has any woman complained. In fact, the women always smile and say thank you.
All the soy and tofu.
In a nutshell, because we haven’t been in a major war since the 70s. Wars have a funny way of making folks grow up.
