I actually think the parliamentary representation lends itself to it.

Muslim communities, after all, are not inherently predisposed to violence. You can stop reading now.

Weird article. I don’t think America is doing any better assimilating than Belgium, we just have not hit the percentage of muslims/infidels crisis point yet where terror will reign here once they hit the right numbers. Try hanging in Dearborn with a Christian T shirt or Houston.

...the American experience is a conviction that immigrants who come to America can and should become Americans. Patriotic assimilation turns profoundly dissimilar foreigners into proud and happy Americans....and then Mr. Jacoby awoke from his most pleasant dream.

This reminds me of some old Chemistry Lab classes. You add a certain amount of chemical into a solution and stir it - and it remains clear. But once you pass the threshold - the color, or texture, changes immediately.
Belgium (and most of Europe) has passed that threshold long ago. America has not yet hit that threshold - so things seem 'ok' (not counting 911, Fort Hood, San Bernardino, Merced, etc...). But our Government are doing their best to get the impurity content up - so we too can have Orks roaming the land.

I do find it interesting that there are several ethnic grocery stores within one mile of my suburban home, including those run by Hindus, Jews, Muslims, and Mexicans. I sort of love that. I talked to someone who was very active politically who lived in a town which was slowly being absorbed by my suburb. He was all about diversity and angry that the town he had chosen to live in had so little diversity. I shared my experience and he was surprised. My granddaughter goes to school and has friends from various backgrounds and all seem to get along. I’m not saying that this is anything that the dad burned gummint should be involved in, just reporting from my heart of America suburb.

The better question is, why are there Muslims in the US?
To: Kaslin
Muslim communities, after all, are not inherently predisposed to violence. He is precisely and completely wrong in this assertion -- especially regarding Muslim communities in some proximity to non-Muslim populations.

Muslims in Europe usually live on welfare. They do nothing all day long, hang out in mosques, enjoying beheading videos, and plotting jihad. They can’t do that in the US: They are too busy working.
In Europe, only the indigenous population has to work, only to have the government confiscate pretty much everything they make and distribute it among their slaughterers.

If what this writer says is true, where is all this islamaphobia Obama is always talking about? Also, comparing the number of Muslims in Belgium to here is worthless without comparing size and population of the two countries.

Why hasn't America become a hotbed of Islamic extremism?
Boston Marathon bombing.
San Bernadino shootings.
It is here. It is just taking a bit longer to show itself. According to FBI reports, they know of some 20 Islamist training centers -- in the US.

Simple enough. In gun free, "multicultural" zones like Belgium, France, or Germany muslims have infiltrated the fabric of the nation with their sheer numbers, and since they are the only ones with the weapons, they will impose their will on the local populace, through threats and outright terror.
An attack in America of this scale would create a huge armed backlash, and they know it. Remember, if the cops can't protect us from them, the cops can't protect them from us either.
