White House Petition Aims To Stop The Javascript Scourge
InformationWeek ^ | 3/27/2016 | Curtis Franklin Jr.

Some programming languages are so bad, so dangerous, that the full weight of the US federal government must be brought to bear on ending their use. That's the premise of a petition now seeking signatures at the "We the People" section of the White House web site.

The petition, entered on the site March 16, 2016, asks the government to, "Outlaw programming languages that threaten the safety of the American people and work counter to our way of life." The petitioner is even kind enough to provide examples of these evil and dangerous languages.

Which programming languages deserve the fate normally reserved for terrorists and drug pushers? Javascript, Ruby, and Java are called out by name. According to the petition, "

All processors have an instruction set built in. What layer you are removed from it is immaterial except that some morons have learned how to manipulate the higher levels.

If you don’t know how to program in machine code, assembler or even C. you are just script kitties.

What is needed is cutting the nuts off those that harm innocents.

I might be thinking of Perl then.

Right you are.

Perl is an interpreted language, not very human readable.    It has been nicknamed "the Swiss Army chainsaw of scripting languages" because of its flexibility and power, and possibly also because of its "ugliness".

I like C#, but I wrote that I would keep Smalltalk. You don't get anything in C# that you don't already have in Smalltalk. And if you know both languages at an equivalent level, Smalltalk is easier.

I love udemy.com. Each course should cost around $20, but they’re really good.

I glanced through. There is one on Raspberry Pi development that costs $200. A Raspberry Pi <$40.

We’ll have to except the numerals, however.

I think you mean "script kiddies".

Cats are "script kitties". All of them.

If you don't believe me, let one in and see if you don't get pwned.

“LISP is stupid. I hated that damn course in college. CAR CAR CDR CDR CAR CAR *THIS*.”

Think of all those parentheses as hugs for your code.

Geeziz. This site used to be the stompin' grounds for gold ol' red-blooded 'Merican boys.

Ban programming languages? Programming languages? Seriously?

Tear off the front panel and single step every program by flipping the switches corresponding to the machine instructions. On the older models, turn core with an alnico magnet. You get good enough at it, you can run stuff at least as fast as them new-fangled sissified punch cards.

Programming languages? Wow. What a bunch of girly men are loose in this joint these days.

Don’t pay $200, they usually cut their prices way down.

Yep, I’ll give them that. Mine are well fed from the many years of writing code to make the world better. When that fails, I’ll help then hunt for food...if needed.

I did 2/3 of my work for my masters-level distributed and parallel programming class in Perl, with the remaining in C. This was in 2001.

It was the first time I’d used either, but I was floored at how easy it was to do the same stuff in Perl that I’d started doing in C. (I knew a number of other languages at the time.)

Oh, and I can add that I got an “A” in it and it was a six-week, compressed 1/2 summer class.

I still can’t believe how I did it. Very cool stuff!

Heck, even FreeRepublic uses Javascript. You have to be crazy to turn off javascript. Java on the other hand should be banned from the internet.

It’s all 0s and 1s in the end.
= = =

But some 0s think they are 1s, and vice versa.

Some Govt. programs were to be done in ADA, by contract.

Cost went sky high.
