The Roosevelts belonged to a prominent family dating back to when New York was New Amsterdam.
Hoover had been an immensely successful mining engineer.
Jack Kennedy’s father created the family fortune by bootlegging Cutty Sark whiskey and stock market manipulation. They were something like the 6th richest family in the US when JFK was elected.
