I dont now about you, but Ive found the Republican race a bit of a disappointment until now. Sure, there was the enjoyment of mud-wrestling debates, the spectacle of Trump-derangement syndrome, but where was the sex scandal?
And when we get the sex scandal, its about Ted Cruz!
Still, beggars cant be choosers. The scandal, such as it was, has been floating around for a least six months. Thats when a reporter (not from the Spectator) called to ask if I knew anyone who could confirm the story. (As if Im supposed to know this stuff.) I told him I didnt and that the people I knew wouldnt want to touch it, even if they knew something about it.
Now the story has gone public, thanks to a muck-raking journal that as it happened also outed John Edwards. And everyone is wondering whether the story is true.
Except me. Because I dont much care if its true. Given Heidi, I wouldnt blame Ted. After all, she apparently refuses to live with him. And given Ted, I wouldnt blame Heidi.
Novelists will sometimes mention some little incident that doesnt really move the story line, but which nonetheless matters. The little incident that sticks in my mind is the story that she once ran out of the house and was found on the side of the highway by the police, who thought her suicidal. What sticks in my mind is that Ted hadnt followed her.

But I dont say the story is entirely without interest. First, there are the Trump haters. A Cruz supporter flashes pictures of Melania, and they hate Trump. A story emerges about Cruzs affairs, and they hate Trump. The story came from Rubio people, but they hate Trump. This is getting to be a bore.
Indeed. Two days in, it’s already tiresome. But I can’t really blame Ted’s supporters entirely. They learned it from watching their candidate, who has vaulted to the top of the list in terms of most chronic cases of TDS.
Sounds like chickens coming home to roost on Cruz. If you don’t mind the poultry reference, Rooster.
I don’t care.
Ted sold out to the GOPe.
That I care about.
Make America Great Again!

Thank God the frump people love everyone.
Damn few people, with the exception of Evangelicals.
Wait, that's Ted's base, isn't it?
Cruz owes Trump an apology for blaming Trump for this sexgate story. Cruz knew this story was coming out (from what I heard) a few weeks ago. That was time enough (in my mind) to rehearse a “blame Trump” in hopes it sticks speech. I do not think the story is true but whether it is or isn’t to blame Trump with NO Proof what so ever is bearing false witness......Shame on Cruz!
I’m still loyal to Cruz, God knows why, my little brother inspires loyalty from his scores of ex-girls and wife, who would kill for him.
Not trying to hurt kids, but this pic of Carpenter’s sweet daughter suddenly made everything clear.

Excellent article.
I enjoyed this the most ........

To be fair, I don’t like sex scandals or any other type of scandalous stuff, when it’s going on in the moment. It is a huge distraction, and someone who is supposed to be doing the will of the people in government cannot possibly hope to focus on their job when they’re being dogged by revelations about their personal indiscretions.
Stuff in the past, I’m more willing to give a pass on. But in the moment, it’s bad news.
LOL. Don’t mind at all.
The point on the lack of empathy for others was a great observation.

But “we” are running for president?
Now where have I heard that before??
Of course, so did Kennedy and Eisenhower. And then there's He Whose Name Shall Not Be Impugned and his "body man", Reggie Love...
Saw that photo earlier. Looks just like a Cruz mini-me.
A Sex Scandal? Who Cares?Probably a couple of innocent little girls who've been betrayed by their (pretend) "principled, constitutional conservative" dad.
Say what?
