If Cruz' campaign purchased the rights to use that photo, they are so BusTed.

Do you know anything about someone claiming/saying that Cruz's office called the owner of Melania's photo and ordered a high-resolution digital copy?

Also, do you know anything about the anti-Trump PAC sharing a common address with someone associated with Cruz? I saw that here somewhere yesterday and can't find it again.

I think this is what you're looking for; it addresses the origin of the Melania attack and the common address for the PACs.
1. I'm not convinced the blog references to Jeff Roe, Cruz' campaign manager, purchasing the photo from GQ are accurate. I would expect a lower level staff member would handle purchases in any case, unless the staff was very lean.
2. Looks like first reference to using the photo against Melania was telegraphed by "Ted Cruz operative Andrea McWilliams, a Texas-based lobbyist," “If Donald trump is elected, Mrs. Trump will be the first first lady that has ever posed nude; the first first lady that’s the third wife [of the president]; and the first foreign-born first lady in this century.” She said, “by contrast,” Cruz’s wife Heidi would be “the first pro-life first lady.” (link)
   
   It was from this early Cruz strategy the Liz Mair Super-PAC “Make America Awesome” took their marching orders and began sending controversial flyers of Melania Trump to upcoming states. Thus kicking off the response from Donald Trump in defense of his wife.
