WHOA! RNC Changes Rule To Stop Trump From 1,237 Delegates…All Are Eligible
Proud Conservative ^ | 3/25/2016

Republicans have assumed this entire elections season that a candidate must have won at least 8 state primaries or caucuses to be eligible for the GOP nomination, but apparently that is not the case and apparently a rule change hasn’t technically occurred, but that’s not the way it seems.

Even Ted Cruz said just last night that John Kasich wasn’t eligible because he hadn’t won enough states, so even he was mislead.

Insiders now say rule 40(b) only applied to the republican convention in 2012 and was never intended to be used in future elections.

From Washington Examiner:

Party officials and knowledgeable sources have confirmed over the past few days that Rule 40(b) doesn’t exist for the purposes of the upcoming convention. That means at this point, the three candidates left in the race, front-runner Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, are all eligible for the nomination, as, possibly, are the Republican contenders who have since suspended their campaigns.

Ben Ginsberg, a Republican elections lawyer who was involved in rule-making process for the 2012 convention, said that Rule 40(b) isn’t transferrable to the 2016 convention. Ginsberg explained to the Washington Examiner that what was passed in 2012 applied only to 2012, and that the 2016 convention must pass its own rule determining nomination eligibilty.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus confirmed Ginsberg’s assessment on Sunday during a television interview. “There will always be a perception problem if people continue to miss — to not explain the process properly. So, the 2012 rules committee writes the rules for the 2012 convention. The 2016 rules committee writes the rules for the 2016 convention,” he told CNN.

I’ll write in DJT with full realization that they will toss the vote. That’s okay because their 2 choices represent the same thing.

Many will no longer unite behind the Establishment candidate because, with this election, they finally realize that they all work in concert.

GHW Bush described Bill Clinton as his “brother from another mother”. They don’t really try all that hard to hide their “one-ness”. They are one. They are UNIPARTY. It doesn’t matter which one of them you vote for, the results are the same.

Clinton=Bush=Cruz=ALL the same, except the one both sides launch unprecedented assaults upon: Mr. Trump.

If the people are disenfranchised, it won’t matter which Establishment candidate you vote for, because at that point, the country is beyond the point of restoration.

Amen to everything you wrote with this modification.

The country is already lost. As Phyllis Schlafley said: “We’re voting for the ONLY candidate that has a sliver of a chance to restore it back to is greatness.”

“If Trump is cheated out of the nomination, here’s what he should do:”

You lay out a valid strategy. I would be less forgiving. If the ‘Publican Party steals it from Trump, he should march over to the Libertarian Party — cut them a check and replace their candidate at the top of the ticket.

He’d have ballot access on 30 plus states — and that would be the last time RNC messed with him.

“My understanding is that courts have no jurisdiction over political parties and their rules.”

Maybe...anyway, after MILLIONS in legal fees, we may all find that out.

I moved out of NY years ago, but at that time, you had to be registered with a party and vote in a general election as a member before you could vote in their primary.

Anyone can switch parties at any time. They just can't vote in that Primary until after the next general election. It was designed to prevent Operation Chaos type ploys.

Yes, it is perfectly true that each Convention writes its own rules. The Convention is the Party assembled. It is the ultimate governing body for the national GOP. The RNC itself, and the Chairman and other officers, are themselves creations of the Convention. The Convention can do whatever it wants. It is sovereign.

If Trump has a majority of the delegates, he shouldn't worry about what the Convention does. If Trump doesn't have a majority, he may find that not everyone is prepared to roll over for him.

Ok, i want every cruz supporter on this forum to ask themselves if they are going to sit by and let this happen by continuing to support cruz.

If yes, do you REALIZE what you’re doing? You will be “enabling.” Picture the GOPe as a bunch of addicts (addicted to power and money), and you’re the dysfunctional family member who keeps making excuses.

Trump isn’t ideal. But for heaven’s sake, like Ben Carson said: it’s only 4 years. If we EVER hope break the back of the Establishment, we must unite. Ted Cruz is what.. 20 years younger? What is 4 years?

Because the alternative is the end of our country. You and I both know that neither you nor I will vote for another RINO next November. Romney was IT. If we can’t break this death grip the Establishment has on us NOW, then we just need to hasten our demise so we can get on with CWII. You know it; I know it; and the Establishment will figure it out when you either come over to Trump and help us, or when we ALL stay home (or even vote for Hillary) next November.

“Let the RNC choke on their RINO and lose Trump supporters.”

Do you really think the GOPE would care!? I don’t think so.

All they want is to keep their perks, the same perks they keep no matter if Obama, or Hillary is in the WH.

Screw the country, me first is their perspective.

Ann Coulter knows it too. Ann Coulter ‏@AnnCoulter Mar 22 NYT appalled Trump's foreign policy team excludes those who've "held senior positions in previous GOP administrations." Country cheers.

They claim the no 8 state rule already was for just 2012. Rush nailed rule 40 on the head.

Trump and Cruz need to mend this fast or the GOP gives it to Hillary and suicides itself.

Got your knickers in a twist again because you are ignorant of the rules?

The rules for the convention are not written yet.

The incoming delegates set the convention rules.

As they have always done.

“RNC Chairman Reince Priebus confirmed Ginsberg’s assessment on Sunday during a television interview. “There will always be a perception problem if people continue to miss — to not explain the process properly. So, the 2012 rules committee writes the rules for the 2012 convention. The 2016 rules committee writes the rules for the 2016 convention,” he told CNN.”

Straight Democrat if he gets jobbed at the convention.

Right, that will really advance Conservative principles! We will have Hillary for at least 4 years, she will appoint between 2-5 justices to the SC (Trump said this) and the country will be finished for at least 30 years (Trump said this, too).

Just to be straight - I would vote for McLame/Grahmnesty as a ticket before I would let that happen. I happen to believe that almost ANY republican would be less harmful to this country than Hillary.

Before a convention convenes, the Rules Committee meets and writes the rules for THAT convention. In 2012, the Rules Committee met and wrote Rule 40 (b) for the 2012 convention. There was never any intention of it applying to future conventions. The Rules Committee has yet to meet for the 2016 convention. And they will write the rules that apply to the 2016 convention. It has been this way since the beginning of time...

Thank you for injecting some common sense and sanity into this thread. The standing rules for a convention are adopted at the start of that convention and apply for that convention only. At least that's the way it's been at the conventions I have attended over the years. I have been a delegate to many conventions--not conventions of political parties, but conventions nonetheless--and that's the way it works.

Not surprisingly, National Enquirer CEO David Pecker is described as a close personal friend of Trump. See this excerpt from NYMag last year:

“Trump and Enquirer CEO David Pecker have been friends for years. ‘They’re very close,’ said a source close to the Enquirer. In July 2013, Trump even tweeted that Pecker should become CEO of Time magazine, which at the time was being spun off from its corporate parent, Time Warner. ‘He’d make it exciting and win awards!'”

Here is the Donald’s tweet from 2013:

.@TIME Magazine should definitely pick David Pecker to run things over there – he’d make it exciting and win awards!

What the Democrat party is for:
Amnesty
Open borders, unlimited immigration
Bad trade deals, enormous deficits
Huge government

What the GOPe is for:
Amnesty
Open borders, unlimited immigration
Bad trade deals, enormous deficits
Slightly less of a huge government than the Democrats

What Trump is for:
None of the above
