Not exactly... the Cruz camp came up with a plausible explanation and people bought it. That is not exactly “debunked”; it just went away for awhile; now it is back and may get looked into more closely.
Ted had a wretched childhood; both his parents were alcoholics, his dad took off when he was a little kid. He has had trouble with alcohol and maintaining friendships. He described himself recently as a Scotch Man. He looks and acts creepy. He has huge issues with his self image and craves validation. His wife had an emotional breakdown on the freeway. Why? All of this fits the profile of a serial womanizer and someone with long term alcohol problems.
