Be careful who you use as a great example of a good man.

He was a great general, lousy President though.

As a House member, Davey Crockett went against Jackson on some very bad legislation the President was pushing. In the next election President Jackson targeted Crockett and back stabbed him to get him defeated.

Crockett then went to Texas, and we then know what happened.

Jackson ruled with an iron hand and destroyed many a great men in his reign as a want-a-be King.

In his wake is the death of a great man of the people.

Crockett despised Jackson to the day he died because of Jackson’s slaughter of the Cherokees that he witnessed first hand as a member of the militia.
