“Well I guess if that’s true, then Cruz is less popular than Trump based on the number of people who will come out to one of his rallies.”

I should have clarified that I do believe Cruz would lose in November as well. I think Cruz would just do better than Trump because he isn’t so badly hated the way Trump is with women, minorities and under 40 voters. I think Cruz would win all the states Romney won and possibly bring VA and CO and maybe FL back into the GOP column as more conservatives will turn out to vote than they did in 2012. But he still needs OH which won’t happen. The large black populations in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati will deliver OH for Hillary.

But Trump is so widely hated across the board, it’s hard to see him outdoing Romney or McCain

I agree. This primary season is a disaster for Republicans. Trump had a chance to win it all . . . but failed to do his homework. His policy ignorance is enormous. It’s all sound bytes, bluster, and word salad. For a so-called principled conservative, Cruz is a sleazy political opportunist and generally unlikable. And the GOPe has completely lost the base of the party. It’s awful in every respect.
