To understand the concern, and in some cases the panic, of many Republican officials over Donald Trump, consider this fact: Young people generally dont like him. The potential of losing an election is one thing, but as polling numbers suggest, the Trump brand could weigh on the G.O.P. for a generation.
■ In a recent USA Today/Rock the Vote poll, respondents under 35 said they would pick Hillary Clinton over Mr. Trump, 52-19. Those lopsided numbers would be hard to reverse if Mr. Trump were the nominee because he is such a known quantity. When the respondents were limited to whites only, her lead was still substantial, 45-26.
■ A recent Washington Post-ABC News poll showed Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton essentially tied among people 40 and older, but with those under 40 preferring her by a nearly 2-to-1 margin.
■ In a national survey led by the Republican pollster Frank Luntz, 1,000 people 18 to 26 were asked: Out of todays major political figures, who do you like and respect the most?
Thirty-one percent chose Bernie Sanders, followed by 18 percent for Barack Obama and 11 percent for Mrs. Clinton. Mr. Trump scored highest among Republicans, at 9 percent. In USA Today, Mr. Luntz called it a a chasm of disconnection that renders every prominent national Republican irrelevant with the voting bloc that could control campaigns for the next 30 years.

Here’s a study on the youth vote in South Carolina
http://civicyouth.org/republican-youth-set-another-participation-record-in-south-carolina/
Trump’s candidacy is an ego trip. He doesn’t really care what happens in the end, he’s just enjoying the attention. It’s made him a bigger celebrity than ever, so even if he loses the nomination or the general, he’ll still be able to go on TV, get a new show and get more attention than ever before.
The dirty secret about his show The Apprentice is that it almost got cancelled. He had to turn it into the Celebrity Apprentice and have celebrities compete instead of real people to keep it going. He is in this to make himself more of a celebrity, so he can have a show again without needing other celebrities coming on to keep it viable.
Your false god has no such magic powers. His supporters will sink back into the shadows of political irrelevancy once he loses by double digits in the general, IF we're so unlucky as to give him the nomination.
Follow the money.
TeB will do what he can to win and he doesn't care where his support is coming from.
All those that hated Jeb are now in love with him since he endorsed Cruz.
Bunch of loser.
Now go verify what I wrote and don't be a lazy azz.
Conservatives stayed home because Romney was a RINO. They’ll fight like hell to get to the polls for Cruz. Nothing like a stereotypical conservative, who actually fits the definition of the word and KNOWS the definition of the word, unlike Donny Boy.
Bingo we have a winner. This has been the play all along. Make a boorish, bigoted, crude, misogynist, old white guy the face of the republican party. Have him attack every minority group, and women with tacky, borderline obscene comments, and sucker in the party hating malcontents to fracture what’s left of the party. The Donald gets the nomination and the Clintons get the WH. I imagine Donald and Melania will be the first guests of the first woman president.
I mean they won’t be suppressing their own voter turnout. Of course they’ll suppress Republican turnout.
Cruz wasn’t even mentioned.
This is a simple hit piece on Trump.
Dishonesty on immigration, I’m afraid.
In a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on May 21, 2013, Cruz sponsored an amendment to the Gang of Eight’s comprehensive immigration reform bill that would have “allowed undocumented immigrants to remain in the United States permanently and obtain legal status.” At the hearing, Cruz urged his colleagues to support his amendment, which he said “allows those who are here illegally to come in out of the shadows.” He further said, “I don’t want immigration reform to fail. I want immigration reform to pass.”
He’s tried to talk this back. This is a much more important issue than ethanol.
There’s a reason Trump has barely been going after Hillary at all. Even people on Fox tonight were starting to ask why he hasn’t gone after her yet. She’s been going after him for weeks now. Where are his usual “counterpunches?”
Both males would have been better of serving with some American men in uniform.
I followed the whole saga. The bill was for citizenship for illegals. He was trying to amend it to chip away at it, first by taking away citizenship. This was also done to expose the extremeness of the bill, by showing that Gang of 8 wouldn’t even pass his moderate suggestions. He never would’ve voted for the bill whether they passed his amendments or not.
So a die hard conservative is a consistant liar, wife cheating, false bible thumping, lawyer???? At least Trump supporters KNOW what they are getting and accept it!!! You folks are accepting someone that you have NO TRUE IDEA of who he is!!! You are ALL about to become VERY surprised about your SOLD conservative, true Christian LYIN candidate!!! I truly feel for ALL of you, the disappointment WILL be GREAT!!! It has already begun, with the acceptance of THE BUSHES, by Cruz, however there is MUCH more to come for UntrusTed and him betraying his die hard supporters!!!!
Mighty slippery slope argument there. Vertical and sheer ice. But cute!
You are FORGETTING AZ. Trump also beat Hillary handily in votes !!! All of MSM is forcing the narrative and Cruz supporters are swallowing hard!!!
I thought that the messiah was Cruz. Beck says he’s been sent here by God himself to lead us thru the raptures, and that God himself killed Scalia in order to get us to vote for Cruz. Plus, he’s even the fulfillment of Mormon prophecy. His dad even says that Cruz has been anointed. can’t beat all that.
Your false god has no such magic powers. His supporters will sink back into the shadows of political irrelevancy once he loses by double digits in the general, IF we’re so unlucky as to give him the nomination.
Fact is Trump will have about 12 million votes and roughly half of all the primary votes cast. Those folks are either the core of a true 3rd party or an energized GOP base. The GOPe will decide that one.
That you are so focused on saving the rotten to the core GOPe is very telling. I can see why you support bought and paid for career politician Ted Cruz.
thx FR for being such a Trumpster....
I only know of one person who likes Trump, the other Trump supporter I know is now a former Trump supporter and will not be voting for him. People have strong anti Trump feelings, and in rightly so.
