Because in the areas where they ran those ads, Cruz was the leading non Trump candidate. These people don’t care who gets the nomination, as long as it is not Trump. They are willing to use Cruz if it keeps Trump from the nomination, in the process they also get to smear Cruz in the way you are doing right now.
